Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    FIAT STILO 1.2 , 2002

    NCT 02-2014, Tax 05-2013

    84k miles

    1400€

Wouldn't care if that yoke had 10 years NCT and was going for €10 I'd still not buy it.

One of the single worst car's I have ever been in in just about every single way... :o

Hate the sight of them after this chap kept bringing his one to me with problem after problem after problem despite me telling him not to go buy one and get a Bravo instead.... Who was right in the finish I wonder?

Where is it now? Broken in his front garden since last October with an NCT till June due to a fried ECU

Doesn't surprise me tbh at all. They look rubbish, interior is appalling, the gearchange felt like being in a truck it was that bad. Add in the fact that never did well reliability wise and I can't imagine parting with €140 let alone €1400.

A nice silver twin spark 166 would do better I think? ;):D

Have been having a sneaky hankering for a 2002 520i recently enough alright... They are so cheap and a good one will be super comfortable, mainly think they E39 is a gorgeous car though.

Many knackered examples going around though...

    Feshty doesn't have an NCT.

Was there something about those almeras that made them very unreliable? I have a feeling that there is, but can't remember!

daughter has one for the last eight years, aside from a gearbox four years ago, it has required nothing, aside from tyres etc, it walzes thro the nct each year, the interion is gone tho, they are not really pint sized tornado proof.

Thought Bangernomics had gone quiet, instead it was just a new thread.

Posted in another thread. Clean looking Laguna with a new NCT. I'd say it would shift for 600.

i didn't know they were that bad, i wouldn't drive one myself,

Electrical gremlins. A lot of components that were physical became electric thus opened up a can of worms. Sensors went left right and centre. That engine must have had all it's sensors replaced at this stage! Then there was the f*cking airbag light.....

As well as chewing tyres and being heavy on wishbones, it was fairly slow and felt wallowy, a farcry to it's predecessor.

Best avoided are the words from a Fiat fanatic, me

    - NCT 02/14
    - Tax of €93 every 3 months
    - feck all insurance
    - I'm sure 40ish mpg is possible too.

Looks to have plenty of recent work done to it and looks very clean in the pictures. Asking €690, offer €600 cash and it really is an absolute gem.

€600 for all that!!:D Bargainomics!

A friend of mine was rear ended at speed in one of them. He was lucky to walk away! Car folded like a concertina.

Jesus Christ... I'm doing Maths and Economics in college... Look like a right gobsh1te now! It's late!

€330 a year for a 1.1 is just shameful. I'll stop here so not to begin another road tax debate on the whole fiasco.

They change it so often i dont even remember exact figures, and definitely not the ones for the whole year... Nothing to be ashamed of.

    HG bla bla bla

At 56k miles the gearbox should be ok but if it's any way whiney possible not much left in it.

I'd struggle to justify anywhere near the asking for it.

Needs a bit of work, but will fly through NCT...
Had same colour 1.2sx, lovely car that broke my heart and wallet.
Silver door handles? Much better than original ones, the black plastic looked terrible after only few years on them.

And back to the topic - s60 is following me for some time, i hope that french ugly car i own dies one day - according to pub talks and statistics...

Alfa 147 handles, grafted to fit along with a plethora of other Alfa paraphernalia never meant for a Fiat, but that's not for this thread ;)

As for the S60, it sounds like it's looked after :)

s40s are nicer, quicker, and have better resale value imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,685 ✭✭✭✭wonski

That's why they are not in this thread, also - to get good looking s40 you have to look at 2004 or higher, while s60 from 2000/02 is as modern looking as the one from 2006...
Not sure about performance, but given it's size i can agree with you.
Both are fast enough, and s60 2.0t will eat s40 1.8. Both are standard engines for those models in Ireland...

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 79 ✭✭mister bishi

Very very good find indeed. Taxed until the end of the year makes it very sweet. Rare enough to find what would seem to be such a clean unmolested one at this stage.

Drove a 5 door one for a couple of years and they are a very reliable easy to run machine indeed. I know its a matter of personal opinion and taste but I think they have perhaps aged better than any other mainstream car from the mid 90's era

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,097 ✭✭✭johndaman66

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4961680

This one is asking a few quid over the €2,000 mark and the mileage ain't low but I think the fact that it has new tyres and approx €560 worth of motor tax on the windscreen justifies me adding it to the thread.

I've always thought that the facelifted mark 1 s40 was a sweet looking car especially with the right rims to set it off...

Nice find and the Irish stereotype of this 'fear' of high miles means it's unlikely to fetch anywhere near it's asking...

Supposed to be good reliable yokes so they are.
