Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not sure if this is ideal bangernomics considering the asking price and tax.
Looks like a lovely car though.
Low miles (95K) with MB service history for half of it (50k).
    Auto, leather & diesel.
Brand new test until May 2014.
    Asking €2,250

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Asking €2,600 and owner is in no hurry to sell it

Nice car and all, but you won't get that for below €2k so it shouldn't be in here...

BTW just spotted an '04 E60 for €3k asking. Will be in here next year for sure :D

The sonata was the original design for the Jag at the time, however they went with a different deign and Hyundai got the old design

It wasnt just a poorly done facelift of the original sonata then?

There's a really good pic of a sonata parked beside my jag at midway actually, think bazz took it?

My point was with Irish people in general unwilling to buy high mileage cars with 170k miles on that one it should go for less than the asking which would swing in favour of someone who know's what they're buying and know's that 170k miles if well minded is not that much really.

Might be the husband because he may know more about the car if someone called

Just because it's male below doesn't mean it's still not a female owner.

Agreed, and yes, it should come down in price because of that fact.

Having said that, it would want to be in very good condition and have a lot of work recipts for me to seriously consider a 170k mile car.

I've has two Peugeot Diesels (405 and a 406) with over 190,000 miles on each with out too much bother.
They do need a considerable amount of maintenence after 150k though.

They say the camera never lies, when it comes to cars and vans it does. Went to look at a van last week looked mint in the pictures apart from the odd visible graze here and there as you would expect, but was reassured buy the seller it was mint.

4 hour bus journey later and stood next to it

It had more dents in it than a golf ball does, I would go as far as to say a bucket of golf balls

Just because it's male below doesn't mean it's still not a female owner.

If it was a clio or renault scenic or something I would believe it no problem, but the ad only ever tends to point out 'female owner / lady driver' on distinctly male targeted cars (modified cars with stickers like '4 doors 4 more whores' on them or landcruisers which have obviously been driven by construction workers). A subaru estate is not something youd see many women driving and always looks suspicious.

Great reliable cars with superb build quality but very hard on fuel in 1.4 form in my experience.

Also I would bet that the example you linked has rust underneath, places to check are the rear chassis legs up behind the rear floor area on either side. Other places to check is the area above the rear drains(located directly infront of the rear jacking points) also where the rear bumper meets the arch is a place to check.

I drive a very same one. Brilliant car, but I would highly recommend going for one with a 1.5 litre engine. A good bit more economical than 1.4 and more powerful at the same time.
But the one from the ad looks promising and original, so may not be a bad purchase.

+1 was gonna say it looks pretty unmolested

A bit pricey for what it is, but these cars are popular. Should be able to resell it no problem in the future

Went ahead and bought it! Very clean, no rust and a pile of paperwork came with it. Drives really well and everything works as it should. All it needs is a new tyre and an oil change :) €800 so not too bad

It will probably be the best 800 you ever spent if the car is as good as you say as it will give you years of hassle free motoring, just make sure the timing belt an water pump are/or have been done and your away with it;) Well ware :)

Fair play atavan-halen. Looks to be a right clean and well minded one. You must be a dab hand at the bargaining to knock the €150 off too:cool:

    Congrats and happy motoring:)

I buy bangers, just don't post them in this thread when I do. Nobody seems to like late 90's polo's with 999cc engines. :o

Incredibly decent 2.0 engine in those Nissans.

Not for 3rd party f&t to any appreciable degree as the insurer wouldn't be remotely bothered about the cost or availability of parts.

Boots are prone to moisture and rust, you should have seen mine when I got it.
About 3 inches of rust and, much and old tools in the wheel well.
