Former Westlifer Shane Filan has signed a solo deal with UK label London Records. His debut album is expected by the end of this year. Filan, who was declared bankrupt last year, has already started recording his debut solo album in Nashville and the UK.

Ran away from his debts, and now a relaunch one year later.. Surely there must be stacks of small businesses in his local area that have been seriously stung by this greedy fker and his brother?

Seems like it's all in the distant past for Shane Filan.. There's an option on the website for "signing", I assume this is just for autographs, and not for cheques to pay off the money he owes.

He declared bankruptcy in the UK. If you were capable of doing so to ensure a better standard of living for you and your family wouldn't you do so too?

Irish begrudgery at its best.

He's done right by his family and is still a stand up guy to meet in person.

I think if everyone ran away from paying Irish business firms and contractorsthen where are we heading for ?. Personally I think if someone has liabilitys in a state ( in this situation Ireland ) then they should face that states bankruptcy legislation, not avail of a more lenient one elsewhere. It's a principle situation here.

That sweeping statement doesnt justify his situation. If dealing drugs progresses his family's situation, that would be fine too?..

He wants to just walk away from the money he owes.. He should at least be making some payment plan from his future earnings to pay the money he owes to people here. That's all I'm saying.

We are paying higher taxes and thousands have had to emigrate due to the greed of him and his ilk, avoiding debt repayment by declaring bankruptcy in another jurisdiction.

I hope people boycott his shows should he wish to perform in Ireland.
