    See "craft skills" for deskilling thesis by Karl Marx (1867) in his Capital, Volume 1. Also Gary Becker (1964) discusses Marxian deskilling in his Human Capital, New York: Columbia University Press.

    For a good scholarly article see Attewell, P. (1987). "The Deskilling Controversy," Work and Occupations 14, No. 3.
