    Hi Guys
In work (am supporting round 30 pcs) ips are all manually configured and work ok
Am trying to install a wireless router in the Boardroom so when visitors give presentations or whatever an ip adress can be dished out from the dhcp pool of the router and fuss kept to a minimum
Im using a p660hw zyxel/eircom router and have tried every config I can think of
Head well and truly fried a this stage
    Any help greatly appreciated
    Kind Regards
    Garth
p.s apologies if this post in wrong location

Sorry Garth, can you let me know what its not doing?
Have you got the modem connect directly to the ADSL point? i.e. is the eircom presentation in the same room?

I'd suggest doing this in steps..

    1. Make sure modem has latest firmware, reset it to its original factory settings and take a break away from it for a while.

    2. Plug modem in see if local devices are being offered DHCP address. In otherwords, don't worry about DNS for the minute. Just get devices connecting to modem.
i.e. Make sure the SSID is unique

At this point, anything within a 10 metre radius should be at least able to pickup the modem.

    3. Simple test with a smart phone should be ok to at least get connection to modem

    3. Try pinging the default gatewate i.e. modem address

    Im using a p660hw zyxel/eircom router

    That's your problem right there.

The P660HW is a consumer product (a particularly bad one, btw) and has no place in a business environment.

    See http://www.dlink.com/ca/en/home-solutions/connect/powerline/dhp-w306av-powerline-av-wireless-n-extender
1 of these would provide wifi in the board room.
Maybe 2 units in a large room.
its likely 1 reciever would be enough.
They have to be on the same electrical ring circuit,
some buildings have 2 ,or 3 electrical ring circuits.
or google setup model xx eircom router extend wifi.
You could try just change the channel, or knock off security on eircom router just for 10 minutes ,to see if you get a signal.
OR maybe input the eircom router mac adress, in the main router.
OR try switch off main router ,for 5 minutes, if this is practical to do so
    during business hours.
Make sure both routers are on same security standard, eg wpa 2

or get a more advanced router.

Hmmm, I think you're a little confused OP, the thread title contains Access Point, but an access point doesn't do DHCP, they just extend (bridge) to an existing network.

I just got Eircom DSL and I want to configure the DSL modem into bridge mode so I can pass straight into my existing wireless router via ethernet cable & so not disrupt my existing home network (also I prefer my Linksys to the Netopia).

eg maybe you need to use bridge mode.
