Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pregnant wife made redundant.

    Hi Guys,

My wife is being made redundant from her job. She has a bun in the oven and would like to know what her options are.

This Friday she will be 16 weeks from her delivery date so she is entitled to take early maternity leave as long as the date on her P45 is within the 16 weeks.

She would prefer not to go on maternity leave so early (wants as much time with the baby as possible) but we dont see any obvious way around this. Its doubtfull that she will pick up any work between now and when she should be going on materinity leave. Could we defer taking materinty payments to prolong the time she will have with the baby?

Also, will she be entitled to statutory redundancy (working more than 2 years with the company) as well as maternity benifit?

If anyone has any advice on the situation or possible problems we may face, im all ears.

    Cheers in advance.

Her best bet is to go straight on maternity leave.

When her maternity leave is up she can go on JSB for 9 months while she looks for a new job. If she hasn't found a job after the 9 months , she may have to go on means tested JSA.

She is entitled to redundancy as long as her position is being made redundant. The company should pay this unless they are insolvent, in which case she would have to claim it from the government.
