I thought he got the cuing angle wrong.
Really unfortunate kick, if it was, but I thought he just took his eye off the shot.

There's no way he misjudged it that badly. Had to be a kick.

I thought the same. The white did jump a little but to me, trying to thread the ball through the 2 reds made the pocket smaller and made it a difficult shot that he just got very wrong

Edit: only an opinion, I'm obviously no expert! :D

It's cringey they way Taylor "talks" to the crowd.

Good recovery by Hawkins there, deserved that frame.

    Annoying:
    • showing celebrities and the players' families afer every shot
    • knobheads shouting as if they were at a football match
    • that twat who introduces players at the start of a session
    • audience members wearing football jerseys
    • where's the cue ball going?

The BBC commentators are generally great, but Rob Walker is an idiot. He apologised to the viewership the other night for Hawkins using "industrial language" in an interview - he said "Jesus Christ". The interview was after the Walden match so was after 9pm. Idiot.

Jaysus, had a bath for the first time in years, that was relaxing to say the least.

Couldn't be more contented here with me glass of wine settling in for the final session :D

Come on Barry, get a couple straight away.

PS. Love the BBC coverage. The only annoying thing for me is the way they focus on celebrities etc. There are surely loads and loads of interesting snooker people there that I'd enjoy hearing from or hearing stories about.

duuno about that intro from hazel irvine

    talking up ronnie like that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,630 ✭✭✭mrsoundie

What the hell was that intro, is there a dole cue (my bad) for retired snooker players to be commentators?

No wonder the rocket wants to retire.

Come on Barry!!! He really needs to take the first 3 or 4 to be in with a chance I think. Really hope he gets them.

    Here we go :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,152 ✭✭✭✭KERSPLAT!

    Fantastic safety!

    Edit, thought he snookered Ronnie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,274 ✭✭✭_feedback_

Good man Barry! 127 to get started.

When he knocked in the black he just looked really calm and relaxed. Keep it up!

Cat amongst the pigeons ? Surely it would be a hawk ?

He's a different player to the semis..

Would love to see him keep piling the pressure on Ronnie.

Great break, well done Barry! Hopefully enough for 15-12

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

    Great game so far.
Barry takes the next one and it's game well and truly on.:)

    Come on ronnie!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,274 ✭✭✭_feedback_

Oh Oh, Ronnie is in again. We could be done before 9 here :(

It was an early finish last year too wasn't it?

Will be delighted for Ronnie too, great achievement, but was hoping for more of a game.. Although we have gotten more than we were expecting!

Ronnie will have good things to say about Hawkins I'm sure.

thats why he's champion, hawkins deserves massive credit in this match also

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,343 ✭✭✭PropJoe10

Game, set and match to Ronnie, and through no real fault of Hawkins. Genius at work.

Ronnie makes ludicrously difficult shots look simple. The most talented player to ever hold a cue. Enjoy him folks you may never see raw talent like this again.

    exactly

i doubt there'll ever be a player from china that can do a 5-20 maximum

who cares what his personality's like

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,163 ✭✭✭messinkiapina

If Ronnie wins will he be back in the top 16? I know he said he's retiring, but it's Ronnie..lol

No, he'll be 19. Just over Joe Perry. He'll be delighted to get ahead of Joe :P

It's looking ominous for Hawkins now I'm afraid, at least it should be a sign of future success. On a side note, does anyone know the name of Barry's walk-on song? It's catchy!

I wouldnt say he cares, as I'd say the next time we see him will be this time next year. I'd say he'll keep going as long as he keeps winning. If he has to qualify, he'll give up I'd say

Definitely best player ever picked a cue up.

Imagine if you could combine Ronnies talent with Hendrie or Davis mental strength and dedication. Id say youd be looking at ten world titles in a row or something silly.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 31,152 ✭✭✭✭KERSPLAT!

And there we have it. Fantastic effort from Barry, delighted I was so wrong with my prediction! Ronnie was so good, the best player ever IMO

    Ronnie O'Sullivan, would you?

    Well done Barry!

Delighted for Barry, he did himself proud.

Ronnie is the best player in the world by far. Incredible stuff ..

Ronnie: "Everyone knows I'm up and down like a whores drawers" :D

What was the "industrial language" used just now?

    What did O'Sullivan say there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,049 ✭✭✭digzy

it's refreshing to see someone at the top of their sport who doesn't live like a nun, hitting the gym etc....
He's someone the rest of us can identify with. what a talent...

The guy is pure cringe to listen too. Such a poser, with such an ego. Picking and fiddling with himself. Outstanding player. I'll give him that.
