With some people it can have an adverse effect as in "paranoia" and if a person that smokes cannabis 'especially hash' encounter this as in... i.e...afraid to leave the house or communicate with other people then they Should stop smoking it straight away because for these people that encounter this problem it would be wise to stop smoking it as it will have more deeper paranoia-psychological effects on you in the future, this is a fact /fin.
    .

Jesus H why do people even bother with this stuff.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Its COOL.

@ Big Bottom it doesn't affect everyone like this but it does affect a small minority of people, so the problem for these people exists as in what i was saying in relation to it...stop using it if you have this negative reaction to it.

Quite simple really as there are people that have tried it and they didn't like it and never tried it again because of the effect it had on them, but others will enjoy it without any of the problems i mentioned above :)

You obviously don't know anyone who takes it. At least not over the age of about 19.

As to why people take it? Well, why do people do anything? Oh yeah - because enjoying your life IS COOL.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

    It certainly is cool!

I think I might smoke some after class if I don't get too much homework!

Why do people eat peanut butter when some peoples throats swell up at even the smell of it?

Why do people eat wheat flour bread when some people are coeliac?

    I could go on..........

It can be therapeutic for various medical problems. It could possibly make your bottom less big.

In relation to OP, the smugness that you would see I would imagine is more of a defensive act in response to marginalisation.

I think everyone, smokers and non-smokers alike are well aware of the mortality rates of the drug, or lack there of should I say and it is a commonplace drug which a large portion of people mix in with their lifestyles without problems. But having to pay an arm and a leg due to black market pricing, risk of judicial consequences and an underlying stereotype can be pretty annoying, especially in a society in which alcohol reigns supreme.

Also I would imagine, as with every personal interest or hobby one might have, you tend to look into it more so than the average non-user which can lead to a bit of an educational divide.

I think you missed the important part,

First off the OP has no idea what he is talking about.
has anyone here actually heard of the "endocannabinoid System"? If not that should be the first thing to learn about before making comments that make you sound totally ignorant of what you are actually talking about. Some people seem to think that cannabis is bad for you, they go on mouthing about what they heard and they supply no actual scientific backing to their claims. Well the fact is that cannabis actually protects the neurons in the brain. And here is one of many scientific articles to show that it is not just bull****. http://www.jneurosci.org/content/21/17/6475.long

The U.S.Health and Human Services are fully aware of this fact, and they themselves have a patent on it. http://uspatent6630507.com/ http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PALL&p=1&u=%2Fnetahtml%2FPTO%2Fsrchnum.htm&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=6630507.PN.&OS=PN/6630507&RS=PN/6630507

Here are some links regarding medical uses for cannabis. Note that the consistent theme between them is that cannabis shrinks tumors and selectively targets cancer cells.
    Brain Cancer:
    http://www.nature.com/bjc/journal/v95/n2/abs/66032... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11479216 http://www.jneurosci.org/content/21/17/6475.abstra... http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/308/3/838.ab... http://mct.aacrjournals.org/content/10/1/90.abstra...
    Breast Cancer:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20859676 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18025276 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21915267 http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/early/2006/0... http://www.molecular-cancer.com/content/9/1/196 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22776349 http://www.pnas.org/content/95/14/8375.full.pdf+ht...
    Mouth and Throat Cancer:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20516734
I could also supply similar links to scientific studies for the following, but thread is long enough. And anyone seriously wishing to find out the truth will do so themselves.
Lung Cancer ,Uterine, Testicular, and Pancreatic Cancers ,Prostate Cancer,Colorectal Cancer,Ovarian Cancer..etc,etc
Other conditions which can be treated by Cannabis include. Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Crohns disease, Migraine, depression, pain, insomnia, MS, Diabetes Before this thread gets much too long I will include a link to conditions that can be helped by cannabis.. http://medicalmarijuana.com/treatments-with-medical-marijuana-cannabis
And finally a link to patents applied for by GW Pharmaceuticals
    http://www.faqs.org/patents/assignee/gw-pharma-limited/

If they allow everyone to grow their own they will lose their profits. Is it any wonder that big Pharma is hell bent on lobbying to keep cannabis illegal?

Most of them are greasy stoners with white pasty faces, usually seen wearing a smelly jumper.
