Key West non-stop partying ....great spot if your young and single

I'd say spend a few days in Orlando, then fly / bus (whichever suits) to Miami for a day or two. From there, rent a car and take a day or more to drive down the length of the Florida Keys to Key West. Spend a few days in KW, and then take your time driving back.

Alternatively, rent a car for the entire time.

There is a thread on Key West here:

...and a few other threads if you search on it

Wouldn't worry about it, nothing you can do about the weather, hurricane season runs from start of June to end of October, Orlando isn't often affected as its inland, Miami & the keys are more exposed

Take out a good travel insurance policy by the way

orlandos nightlife is nearly non-existent, everywhere is closed at 2am on the dot, your best option in orlando is universals city walk which gets quite busy on friday/saturday nights

southbeach in miami should be your number one priority if its nightlife you seek, one of the best spots in the world never mind florida in that regard

    ^^This.

If you want to party, go to Miami. You don't need a car to stay on South Beach - you can walk everywhere, and take a taxi if you want to go to Mid-beach or Miami proper. It doesn't all have to be flashy either: there are great dive bars, pizza joints, sports bars and casual lounges on the beach in addition to the swanky joints.

I will add though that late August/September is peak hurricane season - you definitely need travel insurance! If you are in Florida, there isn't really anywhere to run because it is a giant peninsula, so the best you can do is hunker down. The locals don't really start to take things seriously until it is a category 3 (I lived in South Beach for two years and we got hit 4 times  Orlando got hammered as well) and even if you do get hit, the power will get cut back on in South Beach before anywhere else in South Florida, so you'll be ok either way. ;)
