Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Bit of a pickle

Hi there, I'm just trying to plan as best I can for what might happen at the end of next month. My job may be ending around the 25th May, I've been here for 8 months or so but business isn't great lately, the boss has said they may have to let me and one other go. I'm wondering about the time between the initial application for JSA/JSB and the meeting to go back to the office with other forms etc. I remember last year when I signed on I went down initially and then was given a date the following week or so to come back with forms.

My "pickle" here is that i have holidays booked the week after my job is due to end, so If i was to go to the Social Welfare Office on say, a Friday that I finish work and leave the application in, would they be expecting me to be available to go back for a meeting/drop in p45 the next week or two. Holidays have been booked for a while now, so I won't be around.

Just wondering what's the best thing to do in this situation. What If I was to leave the job myself a week earlier and get the form in, then I'd be around the next week in case they needed to speak with me again. Would it be any use ringing the local office and explaining? Im just unsure of how they view holidays etc...

    Many thanks in advance! :D

You sign on the first day of unemployment which would be Monday if you are let go on Friday. If you are on holidays the week after being let go then you cannot sign on until you return. If you are let go a week prior to going on holidays you can go in on Monday and make your claim and at the same time fill up a UP30 holiday form.

Go in on the first day of unemployment. SW pays for 2 weeks holidays so you will be covered.

Thanks for the replies folks, If I do go in and sign on on the first day of unemployment, will I be ok going away the following week, even if they need to call me back to the office for a meeting or to drop more forms down?

Yes I've no doubt they will give you time to return any outstanding documents after your holiday.
