Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I just stumbled upon this 1 minute video now and was wondering if anyone else has seen it? I haven't seen it myself on this site.

Quite disturbing actually and reminded me slightly of the start of the disgraceful Egyptian massacre at Port Said a while ago.

Does anyone know why those fans would flip out like that? Are there actual socio-economic issues surrounding club football in Greece like in society? Are the fans over there known for having a carzy reputation? I'm aware Panathanaikos have an element but what about the wider spectrum. There was no audio on the video I watched so can anyone hazard a guess at what's going on?

Mods I was unsure whether or not this should be included in the hooligan thread from the weekend or not so please merge it in if that's for the best. Thanks.

They did it because they are pi**ed off with their team, the OG came late and set them up to lose a very important game. AEK are fighting against relegation. They are sure to get a points deduction now which will confirm relegation.

I remember Hertha fans doing something similar a few years ago when Hertha lost an important game, they damaged the dugouts and advertising boards.

If someone could chase Matthews out of Tolka that would be delightful.

That doesn't make it alright though, does it? I'm sure the players are relishing the next home game.

Great contribution from a great poster.

If you bothered to read the part YOU yourself highlighted, I said reminded me slightly of the start of that event, when I was first watching it. Those players in Greece wouldn't have had a second to absorb what was happening so got out of there ASAP. How were they, or anyone, to know what was going to occur? Not an everyday event by any stretch, hence why I posted it.

Actually, it was the Fortuna Dusseldorf fans paying at home to Hertha in a relegation/promotion play off at the end of last season. A goal up, they thought the final whistle had gone with still 90 seconds to play and invaded the pitch. Players had to go off and come back on again 20 minutes later and play the last 90 seconds.

EDIT - here you are - Fast forward to 10.30 and bear in mind the ref's signalled a minimum of 7 additional minutes and has NOT blown the final whistle!

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

No, Oatesy23 is right, there was actually another case a few years back when Hetha fans smashed up advertising boards, ripped out and threw seats, invaded the pitch armed with flagpoles and irons bars amongst other things and even tried to follow the players into the changing rooms. They were terrible scenes and a disgrace for football.

Greek fans are nuts. Stick any Greek team into youtube and you'll see. It's not just football either, the support at basketball matches is insane.

A lot of the time this just means lots of colour and noise, but sometimes it crosses over to stuff like the above.

I may have to stand corrected here, but I'm honestly not sure!

It was the match against Nürnberg that secured their relegation to the 2. Bundesliga. The Düsseldorf game you mentioned (which was every bit as appalling, secured their promotion ;) )

I remember it so well, because I watched the match live on TV and was totally appalled at what went on and was dissapointed that Hertha didn't stay in the league (that meant no more 1. Liga matches live in the stadium for me... :( )

Here's a YouTube link to it:

I'm pretty sure something similar happened in the Worthington Cup a few years back with Blackburn and Spurs

But Tolka Park is a bit smaller than AEK's ground :pac:
