Angela isn't going to tell claud to cut a cheque to the eu for superlevy on the first of April that's what will decide whether it will be dropped or not.

Does that only apply to those of us who signed the contract. I thought it was one of the carrots.

Not In glanbia put personally would prefer for such funds to be used for when things are maybe worse for a sustained period. If next spring has a poor price that's when I'd like to see it supported not when current solids would give a good top up to base price which while dropping isn't v bad yet

Well its five million. It will be five million whenever they spend it so cant agree with that.


Sad to see them dropping it so quickly though seen as how reluctantly they rose it last year.

Not in glanbia, but what is this fund? They give 2c/l out if it while price is down, and when price is good you pay it back?

Dont know really.

Cant help feel they kind of shot themselves in the foot with this one.

If they had said nothing about this fund and just held price at 35 it would of been much more palatable to farmers.

I notice over the years that a lot of the initiatives taken by co-op's are not road tested on farm. This 2c would be much more beneficial to farmers if paid next year when milk price is expected to be lower, not this year when profits will be higher and more tax to be paid. The same goes for the DG peak management proposals { scrapped, eventually when applied to farm situations} . The super levy payment scheme by DG will in time be seen to be more beneficial to the co-op than the milk suppliers. Surely a farmer board member could impose the proposals on his own farm situation and see the flaws in schemes proposed.

Talking to a board member of DG this morning said probably 33 cent for Aug but won't know for sure till the 17th. Also said we won't be in 30's in the spring

Is there some catch? or is it just the Co-op genuinely trying to help out its suppliers?

Any news from any ofcthe coops bar Glanbia re August price.arrabawn setting tomorrow.itll be interesting what both Arrabawn and aurivo do as both held a decent price for july

Drinagh co-op (west cork) milk price dropped another 2cpl, down to 33.14c. That sucks!

Ill be eaten alive for this but maybe their able to pay more because there small enough to keep costs under contol and dont have shareholders to keep happy.

I dunno, any prices from them appear to be on here say as opposed to definitive prices. If they are paying better so be it they might as well just be open about it. Unless it's negotiated with each individual supplier?

A man told me today that he recons when the milk quotas go next year , milk price will be 18 to 20 cent a litre. :eek:
