Anyone had a chance to check the ESPN/ESPN America EPG to see what's live over the next week?

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

Is it not only Sky who have the Playoffs? Be surprised if whoever has it has decided what games they are showing yet!

    Edit:

Sky have the Eastern Finals and Finals
ESPN have the Western Finals and Finals

Both seem to have the first 2 rounds, but neither have anything scheduled yet.

Looks a great first round, very open. Apart from Heat-Bucks, every series is interesting and an upset wouldn't surprise me in any of them.

In previous years the first round has looked fairly predictable, and I was waiting for the second round & conference finals for the real action. But looking at these matchups, I'm excited for the first round this year. Every team will think they can win their series, and you could see a couple going to a seventh game.

Wouldn't even consider that an upset, Bulls have one the best coaches around, that could swing it for me.

Clippers v Memphis could be a cracker, Memphis still don't get enough respect.

I know it wouldn't be the upset to change the world, but as it's a 4 v 5 seed, it would be classed as an upset.

Yeah, Clippers must be pretty p*ssed off that their reward for their best ever season and first ever Divisional title is the Grizzlies and their huge front line. Think that's the most likely series to go 7 games.

    1) Heat vs 8) Bucks Heat in 4
    2) Knicks vs 7) Celtics Knicks in 6
    3) Pacers vs 6) Hawks Pacers in 5
    4) Nets vs. 5) Bulls Bulls in 6

    West
    1) Thunder vs 8) Rockets Thunder in 5
    2) Spurs vs 7) Lakers Spurs in 5 (worried on this one depending on the injury situation - I'm basing 5 on Spurs having a fit Ginobli and Parker)
    3) Nuggets vs 6) Warriors Denver in 6
    4) Clippers vs 5) Grizzlies Clipps in 7 (though could go either way)

I have been googling for ages to see what games are on, in order to determine whether I stick to the Sky/ESPN or go and spend dosh of the league pass.

Obvious games to see are the Knicks / Celtic and even San Antonio / Lakers games. Add the Denver games, I would be pretty happy with the tv coverage

Wouldn't it to almost financial suicide , at least from the international audience prespective, for channels not to be broadcasting at least 4 games between traditionally recognized franchises like New York v Boston?. (even a recent poll on NBA.com cited that game to be the most anticipated. I expect at least 6 games of testy adrenaline charge Garnett v Melo

Anyone fancy of Kobeless LA team to push SA to the wire?

The Cavs have fired Byron Scott, this kind of explains why Kyrie stormed off the court, in a sulk after the last Cavs home game of the season.

There is a free trial from the 20th of April to the 22nd for league pass. My knicks vs celtics at 8 on saturday is mouth watering, followed by Denver v Golden state, which should be offensive basketball at its best. Cant wait!

OKC/Houston is by far the most mouth-watering series for me. If there's the upset Houston might be capable of causing, it throws the entire Championship wide open. The Lakers could also easily upset the Spurs. Denver/GSW will be entertaining too, though I can also see it being a sweep. But one of those 'close' sweeps where every game is a contest, like OKC/Dallas last year.

I find it hard to care about Knicks/Celtics when everyone in the East is pretty much playing for 2nd. Now if LeBron went down with an injury it's a different story there. But until that happens, meh.

How do you see us doing against the Nets mate? Interesting match up.

Ha, does anybody think the Nets are going to beat the Bulls?

  • Registered Users Posts: 911 ✭✭✭The Phantom Jipper

The "experts" at ESPN have had their say anyway and are unanimous that the Knicks, Pacers, Heat, Nuggets and Thunder will win. Majority view is that the Spurs, Clippers and Bulls will win.

They never looked great to me when we played them in the regular season, but they finished with a better record than us, so I dunno, maybe we caught them on bad nights.

I think the matchup is good for the Bulls, Boozer does well against them, Lopez is a weak rebounder for his size, so we can beat them on the boards. And I don't think they're a great ball-movement team, which I think the Bulls defense punishes in particular.

They may have the best player on the court in Deron Williams, but I think Hinrich can guard him well enough, and you can also put Butler on him.

If Gibson and Noah stay healthy, I'd be very confident of the Bulls winning. I think Gibson will be ok, not so sure about Noah. That plantar fascitis has a tendency to recur. But I think even with Noah playing a bit-part, the Bulls should win.

What do you think, am I under-estimating them?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,980 ✭✭✭Carcharodon

I haven't been impressed my the Nets every time I've watched them this year, wouldn't shock me if the Bulls took it easy but who knows.

The only question for the playoff is who can stop LeBron James, I really haven't seen a team this year that looks like they could beat them over a series. Thunder and spurs are the obvious choices but I am just not convinced but again, who knows...

Friend of mine just wrote up a blog with a bit of an NBA preview and asking the question, 'What NBA Team Should You Support?'. Since it's mainly for newcomers or casual NBA fans, nothing in there you won't all likely know already, but it's an interesting take all the same.

Haven't even watched it but there are numerous reasons one could give you,, some blatantly obvious...

I think the Lakers could push the Spurs, as good as Kobe has been, it has all been about Kobe, he has not made anyone else better. A full flowing Gasol and Horward will he difficult to deal with for any team.
