Pet minding in own home wanted - Galway area

    Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any pet sitting services around the Galway area (don't mind travelling a bit for this) that would look after dogs in their own home? I have boarded my dog in numerous kennels around the Galway area, but kennels do not suit my dog and I would much prefer to leave him in a home environment where he receives alot of attention :)

Does anyone know of something like this around Galway? - I don't want a sevice where someone would come to my home while I am away - I would prefer my dog to have constant company in a house (not just a visit a few times a day). I have contacted doggieminders.ie, but unfortunately they do not have any minders in Galway.

    Thanks alot.

I know of one near Ballinrobe if that's any good? What part of galway are you in and what breed/size of dog?

Trusty pet pals in briarhill do it. They have a dog creche so if its during the week they bring the dog to creche and then home to their house in the evenings and at weekends. I've left my dog with them loads of times and find them great.

Hi - I am in the Oranmore area - I would be looking for someone to mind my dog while I am away for a few weeks - so ideally I would be looking for someone to take him in their home for the full period rather than dropping him back home to the house at night.
He is a medium breed - Kerry Blue.

They do take the dogs back to their home at night.

Wouldn't recommend in a million years. My dog came home injured after daycare it cost €100 to get the cut on her face stitched up and they were so horrible about it. Refused to pay, they weren't watching the dogs and didn't see what happened. Then changed the story and said it was my dogs fault. Avoid is my advice.

My dog went to the creche 5 days a week for over a year and stayed with them any time i've gone away and i've never had any problem or heard of anyone having a problem except you i actually found them really helpfull when i was training nala to leave it when she was eating poo they continued the training when she was in daycare. Actually i left her with them 2 weekends ago and came to collect her at their house earlier than i was supposed to and the dogs were all well supervised. They don't take dogs that aren't well socialised though but i'd say thats the norm with most places.

what vet do you go to that would charge €100 to stitch a dogs face?! Why would they have to pay? I worked in a creche (with children) and we were never asked to pay when a child hurt themselves which happened sometimes, you can't expect children/dogs to not get hurt playing from time to time.

I've heard of several people with issues with that place. Not sure if you are implying my dog isn't socialized but she is and very well so.

Not getting into an argument about this just letting the OP know what happened my dog.

Actually there is a NZ woman in ardrahen that has kennels but has room in the house for one dog. We left Tilly there before and they used to bring her for spins in the car when they went to the shops. Can PM you her number if you want. Not sure if she still does it, its three years since we left the dogs there.

Hi TillyGirl -yes please PM me the woman's number that you have in Ardarhan that might still take a dog into her own home. Thanks

In relation to Trusty Pet Pals - I will definately take a look at these also - I work very near to this place and I thought that their boarding was the same as regular kennels - but from looking at their website it seems that they take the dogs home in the evenings, which sounds great.

There's also Big and Small Galway Pet Sitting, they mind dogs in their own home, they're based in West Galway but I don't know exactly where and can't vouch for them myself but they're another alternative for you to look into perhaps, find them on Facebook BIG and small Galway Pet Sitting Dog Training (I tried posting the link but it went to my FB page, sorry!)

Dont know if this is any use to you, but check out PETHOLIDAYSWAP.COM
Ive signed up for this but havent used it yet - its a service where two people in an area mind each others dogs - no fees. sounds ideal!

Have used Trusty Pet Pals a few times. Great service and I have no complaints. A couple of the staff are qualified trainers too.

would also recommend trusty pet pals. also know someone who leaves their dog with Valerie Hughes, she works for Galway Bay FM. not too sure if she does this all the time but feedback is good and dogs have full run of the house!

OP, is your dog neutered? if not dont be surprised if any of the places mentioned above will not take your dog in
