    Hi,

I am going to Amsterdam in May for a weekend-break with my boyfriend. Can anyone recommend a hotel to stay in? I am looking for somewhere pretty central.

    What's your budget?

My budget is €250 give and take a little. We're panning on staying for two nights.

With a group of friends (6) a couple of years ago I stayed in the sunset boat from this crowd:

They do have smaller ones also. I think the price was comparable per person with cheap hotels. It was about a 10 minute walk from Central Station.
The 'swans visiting every day' was very accurate too, surrounded by them at breakfast.

We had a lovely stay in this hotel in 2011:

Website is a bit crap, but its a fantastic place to stay. Really central, good price and breakfast in bed! Stairs are steep but thats the only issue.

    We stayed here:

Think it was 120 a night, maybe check it out on Trivago.com

    10% off with HEMAR10 code on hotels.com

It's on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal so its a short walk from Central Station, handy for getting around.

I'd certainly recommend it, they also have a Private Sauna + Fitness area you can reserve, just let them know a few hours in advance.

We live in the Netherlands and as Dutch hotels go its great :D

Sorry, for some reason I read that you wanted a houseboat. Still, it was a good place to stay.
