    Hi,
I am just wondering if there is any kind of service available where people test your website for vulnerabilities? Just out of curiosity really, as sometimes it would be good to have some testing professional look at your work.

    Thanks

You could give it a go yourself at a basic level:http://sqlmap.org/

There are plenty of services available to do full vulnerability / penetration testing though they wont be cheap to use. I've used both saint and qualys for testing and they are quite good at picking up most vulnerabilities but they may not pick up on xss issues.

We just studied OWASP in college, The Open Web Application Security Project.

you could use the latest version of metasploit to test against the top 10 OWASP web vulnerabilities of 2013 in its latest package,

Pro version free to try for 7 days, be perfect

There are plenty, however its usually quite expensive as its normally large companies buying their services.

Penetration testing is the specific term used to describe this.

I think I found something along the lines of what I was looking for...crowdsource testing. http://www.utest.com, http://www.crowdsourcedtesting.com/
