HDMI to SCART or RCA TV ?

    Hello all,

I recently purchased a Cubieboard (small computer running Android, by default) with only a HDMI port for display, and consider to use it as a media center.

I attempted to connect it to the RCA ports of my Sony CRT TV (30'? ) but it showed no display.
I tried to flick with the remote to the specific settings for analog: same.

It seems that it's an issue with sending a digital signal out and that the TV can not interpret it (it needs analog).

I know I should consider buying a LCD display and to dispose the CRT TV (how?).
But are there cables or adapters that would do the job?
Any thought on the quality of the image / sound ?

    Thanks

Thanks Mad, that's a possibility but I believe I still need an adaptor to convert digital (PC) to analog (TV).

TV should have as well a S-video (composite) port. I'm still googling around to figure out a good and cheap solution.

I've tried to use a DVD player to convert. See attached picture.

    No luck yet...
The TV set is a Sony KV-32HX15. I have an old Sagem Chorus (no use), and multiple of (mini) USB / FW to sthg cables as well.

I'll keep looking but I think this would work:

I read on the web that HDMI port is providing both video and audio signal out.

Then I have heard as well of some cable that do the conversion for less than 10 EUR ?

Are those RCA plugs inputs? I would have thought they were just for outuptting?

The amazon link i posted should work,
use tv,rca, in, yellow is video, other 2 rca cables, is sound, right, left.
IF tv has no rca inputs,
USE rca to scart unit, cost 4 euro,tv ,shops.

SET unit to in,using switch on it.
rca to scart unit is 3 wide x2 inch depth approx.

They probably have that cable in maplins shops for 15 euro ,approx
or just get hdmi to rca male, it might be cheaper.
All the sony tvs, i, have seen have scart, and ,rca inputs.

@riclad: your link shows an item that is unavailable, and there is one feedback on it that says it doesn't work. That's expected since there is no conversion.

@mordeith: that would give a second reason why the config from the pic doesn't work. the first one being the missing digital to analog conversion.

I ordered this one, that's 30 EUR with postage.

It may work without power cord, just with HDMI. :)
Most of the other models won't.

I'll let you know how this goes...

I have implemented the HDMI- 3 RCA adaptor and the image quality on the CRT display is poor: it's not the one I get when playing DVDs.
Menus are hardly readable and YouTube movie clips just hang when trying to play them.

    * connect converter to main: same
    * have tried changing mode PAL / NTSC: same
    * changing resolution from Android OS: slight improvement but still not good enough to see text menus properly

So far the only thing that it does quite well is to play radio from my favorite Radio website.
Those are the tests I will be conducting soon.

    * find app to control Cubie from iPhone running iOS 6 (through Wifi?)
    * set up SSH access for local host access
    * install xbmc-like OS on microSD card
