Kids visiting New York in Dec

Hi Guys

Went to New York last year with the wife and we loved it. We plan on returning this Dec taking the kids with us . (aged 9 and 12 )

Does anyone have any experience of going to new york with kids and what did they do in the evening , Do the bars allow them in to drink soft drinks and meals ???

One website I read recently said it's ok to bring kids into most bars but they are not allowed stand or sit at the counter.

That seems to be in most states, we were in New Hampshire once and a child came up to the counter with their Dad and the bar tender told him that the child wasn't allowed next nor near the counter.
