Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. OK, I'll leave the clothes buying so. :) It'll be more fun picking something out once I know the sex anyway...

Mothercare is actually really expensive for most things- even small things like muslin cloths cost like €15. wtf.

If there is anything that really catches your eye, get it (unless it is gender specific, even then, you could give it to a friend if it's the wrong gender) I bought a cute cheap outfit in pink and in blue last time so I was prepared either way.

Muslins you can get in Heatons and Guineys for a song! All they do is throw up on them, don't waste money on it. I used face clothes, I still wash the first guy with his. (Being broke meant being innovative!)

I was advised by someone in work to make sure to tell people if they intend buying baby clothes, do NOT buy 0-3 months because they're out of them so quick! Apparently 3mths+ is the way to go :)

When I buy baby gifts I usually get clothes in 12 - 18 months so they have stuff for a years time - because it's 12 months later the seasons would be right for the clothes that are around as well.

Yes, it is the norm, but if you don't know the gender a few people think it is nice to get you a few things for a newborn that are gender specific. But yeah, a good 60-70% of what you'll get are 3-6 and 6-9. I always double check in my head the time of year it will be when the child is that age so to not get a summer dress for a little girl that she'll be using Nov-March. Some people forget this you'll see. I just send the MIL back to the shop and get the same thing again season appropriate.

My New Look gear came today. MW, you were right about the string top! v comfy. Support without crushing my belly!!! I am not mad about dresses, but I think a few accessories (and a good haircut) and I will be sorted!

Also great to see a company with acceptable exchange rates!

Just remembered another shop to add to this list as I was getting dressed this morning! George at Asda do maternity wear and quite good baby clothes too. You can order online for £5 delivery to the republic. Also worth checking out if you're up North. I bought a lot of my 0-3 month babygros there because they were good value.

our first was born in October... We got presents of winter clothes aged 12-18months..... Little man was in 12-18 months at 9/10 months , it was summer & grew like mad so I ended up passing on so much brand new clothes to my friend as her little boy was 6 months younger.

The george baby boy clothes are lovely and soft,I got ours new on e-bay.
I would buy a packet of baby gros and vests and that is it and see what you get:)
We got so many clothes for the 1st and again for the 3rd as he was the 1st boy:))
He is huge though and although 4 months wears 6-9 month clothes:)

Anyone any idea where I can get a pair of maternity bootcut/flared leg jeans...I've been to New Look and all they have is skinny and straight leg :(

I live in my current ones but unfortunately getting too tight!

You could try the mamalicious website? I bought my maternity jeans there and they're great (they're straight leg though) As far as I remember they had lots of styles of jeans so might be worth a look. I think some maternity wear shops stock them too.

Edit: actually, Asda has boot cut jeans for £16 plus £5 delivery. They have a sale on a few maternity things too. £4 for a nice black sheer shirt!

I got some in Next, had to order online though. They didn't have them in my local shop but if you get them delivered to a store it's free, ordered a couple of sizes and gave back what I didn't want.

I bought mine in Next also. Can't remember the price, but it wasn't too expensive. I found I had to go down a size to get them to fit - but they are sooo comfy.

H&M have bootcut, but I prefer to try before I buy them, and could only find them in H&M online.

I was in Next in Blanchardstown yesterday, they had boot cut maternity jeans for about the €38/€40 mark.

Thanks ladies - I went on the New look website and found a pair for €25 including postage :)
Hope they fit ok, and if not, I'll be trying Next in Blanch!

I was going to suggest the NewLook website, but you found it yourself :) I got a pair of bootcut jeans from there, and they are really comfy, love them. :)

Be careful of h&m sizes, they are tiny. I had to buy size 16 in shorts in their maternity section...
Try on sizes or keep receipts.

I found the sizes were quite good - I bought a pair of size 8 skinny maternity jeans. Was delighted with myself! I guess it goes to show you really do need to try them on if there is such a variation in sizes across different styles.

Last time I was able to buy my mat jeans in there in my own size....
Yeah i am normally a 12..maybe I just have fat legs.. the shorts are tiny. NOW a 12/14 would have fitted but they are slightly clingy so didnt want to be clung into them & would like them to fit for pregnancy , increase longevity of them. They look fab, are knee length & I wear them with tights ... so should do til oct....
Even the sales assistant said all fitting are tiny aside from kids clothes.

Request for non-frumpy nursing bras that don't cost the earth- any suggestions??

I normally wear underwire (I like/need the support), so is there anything that would be quite supportive at the same time? I hate saggage...

:)There is a shop in Eyre square shopping centre (downstairs) that do a range called mamalicious. Its very affordable. I was pleasantly surprised at the price. Jeans are 39.95 but also have a sale rail. Dresses for 20euro. They have nice t shirts that are 14 euro and linens for 25. I got a few bits on sale and got a Tiffany rose dress aswell (had to get it for my bros wedding):(
    Hope you get something :)

I got some nursing bras from Debenhams - but I'm not going to lie, they are very very plain. They are supportive though! - M&S do a very decent range but it's fairly expensive. I am just using the non-wired t-shirt bras for the moment from M&S until closer to due date to figure out what size nursing bras to invest in!

Just wondering if anyone has seen any nice but cheap shorts? I'd like over the bump ones as I spend all day pulling trousers up that are below bump.
