    Hi guys we are moving to Laois ovr the summer and need to get the kids registered for school,Can anyone recommend a school in Portlaoise or Abbeyleix..

    the laois forum is very quiet on boards
    try rollercoaster local living as you might get more feedback

    Both schools in Abbeyleix have good reputations-in Portlaoise you have more choice-Gaelscoil,Educate Together and lots more- and the villages in between both towns, have(for the most part) good schools.

    There is 10-15 km between the towns,so it's all about location,location,location when it comes to making your choice.
    And reputation,and convenience for getting there/home, and you have to give thought-even at this stage-to eventual secondary schooling.

    TBH- most schools have strict enrolment policies,they might not be taking on new students.
    It really does depend on where you'll be living in proximity to the school.
