Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Creeping buttercup

    Anyone know of an effective herbicide to deal with creeping buttercup once and for all? Have used glyphosate in the past but it keeps coming back.

    If Roundup doesn't do it then I can only suggest Mortone, but read the info to make sure,

    MCPA is a better spray than Mortone in my experience as it tends to stunt the grass less than Mortone.

    However, to get rid of them once and for all, a spray is not the answer. You need to find the underlying cause. It's most likely to do with ph levels. Buttercups are usually an indicator of land needing lime!

    Yeah lime is the answer and loads of it spraying will keep it under control thats all.

    reilig posted this in a thread last year and I did a soil test in one field with loads of buttercups.
    Sure enough, very poor ph. I have high MO soil, so must be careful applying lime, but used Granlime, a bag/acre at a time during the season(3 bags in total). Much fewer buttercups seem to be in field now. Will continue this year.
