Sadly my 15 year old Yorkshire terrier died of a heart attack, He will be sadly missed as he was part of the family.

The house seems empty without him so I have decided to get another dog but i'd like to get a puppy, Can anyone recommend me to a rescue centre or anything like that? I'd love to give a little dog a new, loving home

    Thanks

Got my boy from <snip> Came fully neutered, vaccinated, microchipped - the works. He has his problems but so happy with how quick dogs trust was with the adoption process and their follow up is brilliant!

And to help with the recommendations are you looking for a pure bred puppy of a specific breed or are you looking for a puppy but not needed to be pure breed?

What size/type of dog do you have in mind?

Like any dog it needs to be supervised around children
Jrt have a tendency to get very jealous of children but same can be said for other dogs
there has been attacks on children by jrts for this reason
they can be a great protector of the family aswell
So as I said like all dogs some have good points and bad points but all need to be watched around children

I have had JRTs since 1996 and all of them have been excellent around children.

One, now sadly departed, was 10 when my granddaughter was born and would spend all night guarding her cot. The two were inseparable.
I now have a rescue JRT aged (we think) 3 and one we have had since a puppy who will soon be 3 plus a 6 year old granddaughter and 3 year old grandson who spend a lot of time here and we all go on holiday together for a week twice a year.

Have never had the slightest issue.

But the dogs are very socialised as are the children when it comes to dogs. The rules are very clear - leave the dogs alone when they are eating/sleeping, don't pick up or squeeze the dogs/ no jumping on the children, no eating the kids toys....
