There seems to be a lot of noise from the crowd at this tournament. Very irritating for the players, but actually irritating to watch as well.

I like Danny Willett. Some achievement to ge a birdie on the last having been in the water!

From the same walker cup team as Rory was on. Fantastic talent as well. Surprised he hasn't fully made an impact on tour yet but still young.

    Shocking 3 putt from Rory.

Why the hell did Rory use the drive on 18......in the water! Lowry not exactly stellar off the tee either on that one!

    Double f##k..strange choice indeed.

Well that was a very enjoyable morning of golf on TV, and in Dublin it has been pissing rain, so just what we needed. The leaderboard is very packed, as you would expect with the top players in the field. There's a big number of players who could win, but my money would be on either Rory or Stenson, with maybe Rose in the mix too.

Michael hoey off to a fast start - -2 after 3

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Tyrell Hatton off to a flyer. 4 under thru 4 holes and now joint leader.

Looks like birdies are the order of the day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,075 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Birdie fest out there, and getting bunched on the top at -10.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Oleson on fire at the moment. 5 under thru 8 after four birdies in a row.
Really like him as a player and a big future ahead of him. No doubt a Ryder cup player in future.

All very tight still. Great tournament......and then Sky go and put on a spoof about the European Tour, Ryder Cup and Dubai.....this really annoys me.

Great stuff from rory. It's setting up nicely for tomorrow. Hoping shane picks up a couple of shots and gets to double figures under par.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,075 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Ye Gods - Rory having a nightmare. He has a few opportunities to pick up again before the end of his round. Shane not having a good day, but no blow-outs, so if he gets in without any disasters, I'll be happy. 18 more holes tomorrow.

What the hell happened rory. He was cruising along and then an implosion.

Ah but! He was looking like only making a par on the par 5 14th, but drains a putt for a birdie. Normal business resumes.

Rory only being 5 under so far for the par 5's this week isn't good enough really. With his power he really should be taking advantage of these holes.

In saying that, stenson is only 7 under for them

This is getting very tight. Ridiculous recovery from rose on 15.

Funny - well not for him - but you can see bello is in bits.

Not sure I'd want Stension on my back -

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,898 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

    Seve like

Bizarre finish by Karlsson. 3 putt from around 5 feet on the 18th.

Nice of Rory to shout fore there.....

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,898 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

Class by Stension - caddy happy too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,898 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

One of the times with Bello - you could see he had lost it before he had.

Sometimes you doubt it - but a pure example of the mental game. The contrast with his playing partner is amazing.

I have to remind myself sometimes that this is a desert.

All the money is great - but it is a very strange place. I'm not going hard left or tying myself to an Irish Water van - but it is weird ending to season.

Thought that myself. The speed that ball was travelling, if it was about 2 feet higher it could have taken someone out in the stand. Not a word from player or caddie!

    Class stuff from Stenson..

A lot to be said for playing par 5 like that for these lads - they are so good form 100 . When at the end of the tournament.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,898 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

I was wondering there if these lads pay their water bill.

This is a load of balls.

We give out about football - but golf has gone full sell out.

Right that is it - Rory has won again with ease - only played 15 times

But Dubai has nothing to do with European Golf - history, even culture. It is probably a tax scam too.

No atmosphere - hardly even a golf crowd. Except the Irish gang.

It is a total sell out and no craic.

Still we have to accept the reality - that it is the only way we will get the big lads - somewhat sticking with Europe at all - it is a necessary evil.

    Anyway rant over.

Completely agree.... and people over on another thread said they would love for a major to be held over in China or the likes.
