Lovely golf from Rory. And great to see Kaymer put in a good Sunday.....should have him in good form for the next few weeks in the US.

Just saw report on Rory's win on the RTE news. Bizarre that they would not mention his big event in Dublin this week!

Because it isn't really a sports story. What would they say?

Have to say, I'm quite surprised at first prize of €379k, seems quite low for a competition of this standing...is that figure really correct?

My stuff for sale on Adverts inc. EDDI, hot water cylinder, roof rails...

Yeah it's correct, bigger prize fund in Malaysia this week.

Mad, over a million for the Phoenix winner, and that's over a million euros with current FX rate...

Think that's the big difference between the US and European tours. Money over there is crazy. So are the attendances! Makes for a great atmosphere!

Well if they're talking about attendance of around 600,000 they can afford the prize money

I am sure I heard before that appearance fees are not paid on the PGA tour, which would also lead to higher purses.

    They are paid in Europe

So I see Peter Lawrie is getting aonther start this week in Malaysia, along with Damian McGrane. GMac playing too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,075 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Paul McGinley shot an nice -3 in the opening round of the Malaysian Open. The course sees tough enough. Peter Lawrie is on level after 11, McGrane on +2 after 8.

Westwood and GMac are joint leaders of rounds of -6.

Weather there looks perfect for golf, warm and still :(
Westy and GMac just completed two good 66's

Superb round by Peter lawrie this morning in Malaysia. A bogey free 66 to bring him to 7 under overall and one behind the clubhouse lead at the moment.
Hopefully he keeps this form up over the weekend and finish in the top 10 at the very least

It's brilliant to see him in such good form. Currently in a tie for 4th. If he could hold onto a top 5 place, it could transform his season.

Wiesberger seems to be constantly near the top of leaderboards the last few months. Could be a big year for him.

Well I look to Peter Lawrie's score first thing when he is playing. Couldn't believe it when I turned on Sky at 7.30. BRILLIANT to see him right up there. It would be just great if he were to finish near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday. He definitely seems to be recovering some form.

Meanwhile GMac having a bad spell.

I must say, I like Gary Murphy on commentary. Very knowledgeable and doesn't talk rubbish.

Probably why sky don't have him on too often :)

    Ah here.....!

I thought Gary sounded very wooden when he started, but he sounds a bit brighter now.....hope we hear more of him.

    2 clear going into Sunday.

Poor round from both Lawrie and McDowell to drop back.

Four bogies and a double from Lawrie......can't do that. Let's hope that is his bad round out of the way and he improves tomorrow. It was a great chance to do wonders for his season though.
