Lovely chip in from the bunker at the last for mcllroy. Sets him up nicely.

The way Shane has gone in the last cuple of weeks, and the way he has gone today, would not make me hopeful about his season end. It's a pity, but it has been a great season. But it just shows that getting up the rankings is one thing, but managing to stay there is a different proposition altogether. Hopefully this is just a bit of a blip for him.

The good thing for Shane is that he had a very poor start to 2014 so he will not be dropping too many WR points early next season. This gives him a chance to play his way into form.

Dunne gets his card. Fully deserved after how well he has done over the last year.

    Excellent stuff

Great effort by Paul Dunne. Some going to come through all 3 stages of Q School.

Scraped through to get the last of the 18 spots from Stage 2 in a 6 man playoff.

So close to being in no man's land, now in the promised land!

Huge Ryder cup pts on offer the last 3 weeks though.

Delighted for the guy - he must be made of tough stuff. Let's hope he makes the most of this opportunity.

Lowry making a little bit of progress today. He's an awfully long way back, but at leas he has made some birdies (along with some bogies) today.

Phelan has got an invite to the Alfred Dunhill next week, Dunne is in with his new status while Lawrie is currently 2nd reserve.

The following weeks Australian PGA has Dunne, Phelan and McGee all in the field.

Another better round from Shane Lowry today - 69. He's well down the field, but at least he has recoverd from that awful 75 on Day 1. Rory opens with two birdies.

Rory's game is looking very strong this morning. Starting to fire at pins again. Wind is supposed to get up though shortly.

Good battle in store tomorrow. Rory should be able to stay ahead of Willett for the RTD title but overtaking Sullivan
won't be easy. Big crowd support for Sully.

Was glad to hear the support for Sullivan - he deserved the winner's cheque alone today for having the patience to play along side Grillo.

Looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully will be a great finish!

    Yes, Grillo is ridiculously slow.
I think they said 30 members of Sullivan's club are there, plus there's a lot of Brits in Dubai. They seem to be cheering on Sullivan more than Willett.

Sullivan reminds me of Ian Woosnam. Very simple but effective swing. Seems to like pressure too.

There's a pretty serious and competitive golfer inside the happy go lucky image. Rory has a battle on hands for sure. I hope he doesn't blow the ETD trying crazy stuff

Rory should be able to do it tomorrow, but it will be a great battle with Sullivan. good end to the season.

Sullivan proving so far that when he gets in a winning position he is very good.

His win in Portugal was very impressive and now 4 under thru 6 today and a 3 stroke lead already.

Sullivan in poor position now after being in fairway bunker.

Looks like I jinxed Sullivan anyway.

Or maybe not. Massive par save there

Great chip, and McIllroy not guaranteed birdie despite his position.

Would love to see Sullivan win it!

If anyone hasn't been watching this morning... you are seriously missing out on some great golf. Rory and Andy now level at the top.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,382 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

That is some putt by McIllroy.

2 ahead with 3 to play, clinical performance. Would feel sorry for Sullivan, but when up against one of the best in the world in that form, you'd need a flawless round to keep up.

    Heh, jinx right there.

Looking like some finish... might be level going up the last. Such an error from Rory there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,382 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

    Jesus that is a putt

What a finish. After Rory found water on 17th, convinced that it was all over but to up and down for a bogey to keep ahead of Sullivan, shows that he has not lost the game that he has being a passenger for most of the year in.

3 win's without a major is still a good return and set's up nicely for 2016.
