Funny that you of all people mention keyboard warriors.

Sure isn't that the whole nature of this site :D

Yeah, huge price...but similar to the Rotella/Harrington cost, no?

Seem to be 31 speakers listed, but only 3 of any note. Can't understand why anyone would pay €175 to attend this, let alone €475 for premium seats or €775 for a VIP package.

The mind boggles! Sounds like a guaranteed way of losing money for whoever's promoting it.

Rather than playing at a venue where he has won before. Right.

Spend the weekend with a drug using cheat - seems like a much better idea.

Settle will you, Shane is speaking at 09.00 tomorrow morning, Lance at 18.00, their paths may or may not even cross.

It is clear they are focusing on a web summit type crowd with the prices.

Harrington's ball striking looks very nice indeed today. Joint leader at -17 now.

I was just wondering about the final rankings in the Race to Dubai for the current season. The TV coverage of the Portuguese Masters paid a lot of attention to the struggle to hold onto your membership by finishing in the top 111. David Howell claimed the last spot by €100 ahead of Graeme Storm.

Five of the field in this week's WGC event are members of the European Tour who are ranked below 111th in the Race to Dubai. One of these has only plated in 2 tournaments and presumably would not be eligible for a card unless he wins. But Dean Burmeister who is currently ranked 141st and is in a tie for 11th after 36 holes will move ahead of Howell if he finishes in the top 17 in this week's event. Jordan Zunic who is currently ranked 151st is currently tied 49th and needs to finish in the top 11 to move ahead of Howell.

While this is a bit more of an add, it's possible either or both could move ahead of Howell and possibly also Daniel Im, who is currently in 110th position. If this happens, will Howell and Im lose their cards? (Howell will still have a card as he is in the top 40 in career earnings, but it would be a lower ranked card).

Can anyone confirm the position in this regard?

Hard to believe a WGC event took place last weekend... and the PGA Tour want to push for more events in Asia

Anyway - saw this on twitter this morning. Interesting.

Good idea, adds a little something extra to the competition.

    lovely looking place.

Very portuguese like in design. Impressive mature trees too.

It is madness Rory and Shane not going here - all reports are, security is unreal, very calm and luxurious.

Rory grew up 4 km from the falls road and he wont go to a 5 star resort in Turkey. Not exactly the "British" spirit.

Then Shane not going too - jaysus , have you gone to a nightclub in Tullamore - lol.

Amazing dip in stats with Dubuisson

    His driving a little off

his score average has gone from 70.88 to 73.46 - for these guys that is a crazy change

I'm surprised to see that Padraig Harrington is the only one of the four Irish golfers qualified for the Nedbank who's entered the event. Whatever about Rory and Shane, who are both guaranteed a place in the season finale, Graeme McDowell is currently 56th in the rankings and could easily fall out of the top 60.

I know these guys aren't short a few bob, but this is a limited field event with PGA Tour level prize money and what about supporting the tour that they have represented (or hope to represent) in the Ryder Cup?

McDowell is the reigning champ of this weeks PGA Tour event so no surprise that he would choose to defend his title rather than travel to South Africa

One of the best rounds you will ever see in progress at the moment by Alex Noren. 9 under thru 11 holes so far. Making it look easy.

Looking to take his fourth tournament of the year.

He's had his share of luck too. That shortsided chip in was magic

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

4 wins in his last 11 tournaments. What a run of form. Projected to go 10th in the world too.

Wouldn't grudge it to him. I seem to remember he was out for ages with injury early in his career.....when Colin Byrne was caddying for him.

Volvo series now introduced for ET, should see bigger names at the events. Including Irish Open too!

Rolex Series. Great news for the Irish Open - it will take the prizefund up from a currently impressive 4 million to 7 million!

That combined with our new July timeslot 2 weeks before The Open is bound to have a big effect on numbers. As an aside... still looks wrong not having the tricolour shown beside the Irish Open.

Gary Hurley produced a cracking round today in the 4th round of Q school to make the cut for final two rounds just on the mark.
Has a bit of ground to make up if he wants to make the top25 but still in with a chance.
Michael hoey the other Irish golfer to make the cut with Kevin phelan and ruaidhri McGee missing it.

The likes of Eduardo molinari, y e yang, Eddie pepperell, Oliver Wilson and Simon khan all made the cut.

No idea where I got Volvo from. But yeah, July, a links course...expect a bigger American contingent over. Exactly how it should always have been!
