blomstrand misses on 18. card secured.

Delighted for him and nice to have a northsider back at the top.

He is young - but seems to have been a long long journey to this point. Even with incredible tallent as a young player - shows how hard it is to get a card.

Swede Christofer Blomstrand stands in the way of Moynihan for a European Tour card. If Blomstrand makes 2 birdies and a par in his last 3 holes in any order than Gavin misses out on an additional 3 or 4 events on the tour for 2018. Anyways this has been an excellent year for Gavin whatever happens. Matthew Baldwin also at 13 under after a bogey on 15th so it is still all to play for.

Don't think this is accurate - based on his challenge tour status I believe that the only way he could improve his status next year was a top 10 finish.

Gavin can expect category 17 status on the European tour. He will stand just below the players that finished 102nd to 111th in the Race to Dubai in 2017. Here is a link that was written by Brian Keogh from Irish Golf Desk just after round 2 of Q-School with the category of rankings for the European Tour season in 2018 in the bottom part of the article.

Rose played very well on the back nine today, swing looked awesome and effortless, great balance

So how many starts is that on tour.

So how many starts is that on tour.

Because his final two rounds were not as good as the others on 13 under, I think he gets the 31st card out of 33 who made it onto the tour. As I said he also guarantees himself unlimited invites for next year. Normally a player with that sort of category would get around 16 or 17 starts. However being a star amateur like Gavin was in his am days (2 time Walker Cup player) Gavin could get 5 or 6 additional invites on tour. Whatever happens this has been an incredible year for Gavin so well done to him. Another paddy on tour is always good.

There is also a re-ranking for Q-school graduates which will take place before the BMW PGA Championship in May and again before the French Open in late June

Patrick Reed stopping play and calling a referee to ask can he remove what he calls a rock from a bunker

I like Reed - but was watching him today and didn't know he was that slow. Unreal - he marks every putt. As people have said you don't see it all on TV too -
What is Dunne and these lads like in real life.

Reading a book and Reed has a bizzare golfing background and very strange dark past - he doesn't speak to any of his family , mam , dad, sister.

Need to give a lot of Kudos to the European tour once again this year for coming up with some brilliant inventions and challenges for the players.

The latest one of the smallest fairway in the world is excellent. The team behind all these deserves a lot of credit

Cracking leaderboard in Dubai. Rose is just in insane form but Fleetwood has had 2 super rounds to keep himself in touch to win the race to Dubai.

Dunne needs to pick up a few more shots by the end of the day to keep himself in touch

Final round just started and it's looking like a cracker. Rose 1 ahead of Fleetwood and now Garcia who are all in with a shot of the RTD.

Lowry off to a great start too.

Looks like Lowry will just run out of holes. Great score going though, make for a promising end to the season for him.

Definitely. Can't see any of those still on the course not finishing ahead unfortunately though

Well played Shane... lowest score of the day. Answers allot of people who have said he doesn't perform under last day pressure. Great round and a super respectable 2nd to finish the season.

The thing is he wasn't under any pressure today. The issue is when he is in real contention. I think he'll eventually figure it out though, he's too good not to.

Shane just coming into form and the season is over lol

Delighted for Tommy Fleetwood. Comes across as a real nice guy. I like him. He was easily the most improved golfer of the year and to round it off like that... He must be feeling like a million dollars right now. Or two.

Big day tomorrow for Gavin Moynihan who plays in his 1st event since securing his European Tour card two weeks ago. He is set to tee off in the Mauritius Open at 3 am Irish Time (7 am local time). Darren Clarke is also among the 156 player field. Meanwhile in Australia, Michael Hoey is the only Irish player that will tee it up in the Australian PGA Championship in Queensland.

A 72 (1 over par round) for Gavin Moynihan in the 1st round of the Mauritius Open golf this morning. The par 3 13th will be a hole that Gavin would like to forget. The Dublin man took a quadruple bogey 7 there. But Gavin showed tremendous character and fought back with 2 birdies on his last 5 holes to give himself a fighting chance to make the cut.

Meanwhile in Australia, Michael Hoey shot a 3 over par 75 to be well the down the leaderboard after round 1 of the Australian PGA Championship. Sergio Garcia just 1 off the lead there

I know the south African wing of tour at this time of year not the most competitive.

But nice to see Goosen on a leaderboard.

A sort of forgotten about top player - who has been tortured with injury.

Anyone seen any of this EurAsia Cup thing? Very surprised to see Europe behind.. given the teams and the no names on the Asia side. And not good for Dunne's Ryder Cup prospects after losing both opening matches.

Dunnne’s Ryder cup chances are in his own hands. He will have to qualify automatically to be going to France.

When you look at the players who have missed out in past years on automatics you can’t expect him to get a pick.

You are right but with Bjorn also being the Captain of this event, if Dunne went and played the lights out and won ever point and then later this year finished just outside the automatic qualifying positions, he would be considered a pick. Now, it's a certain no.

Picks are usually (always?) RC veterans. If a relative newbie is in sensational late season form, then maybe but someone like Dunne won't be picked.
