    What's MDF?

I'm guessing it is some sort of third round cut as there was quite a few who made it through after 2rounds

    Thats exactly what it is

"MDF" is an acronym that sometimes appears next to a golfer's name on PGA Tour leaderboards seen in print or online. Here's what it means: Short answer: "MDF" stands for "made cut/did not finish."

Incidentally a similar concept has been introduced for the first time this week on the European tour. It's been part of the pgatour events for a couple of years now.

If more than 78 make the cut they do another cut after round 3 to bring numbers to 78

PGA tour cut is normally top 70 and ties
Wasn't sure what the 3rd round cut was.

European tour I think is top 65 and ties but maybe top 60?

Yes, Euro tour is top 65 and ties, a 3rd round cut there was the first time I saw it on the Euro tour this week. The rule is just to allow X amount play the last day and not have the course too cluttered in case of bad weather etc, all the 3rd round cut players do still get paid for the record.

Spieth looks like the 15 handicapper in your local who sprays the ball all over the place, the swing and end result do not seem compatible

Medium Density Fibreboard to be pedantic. :)

Why is it that some weeks just seem so dull and boring on the PGA tour.
This is two weeks in a row the televised coverage is a snooze fest

Spieth has turned into McIlroy

The reaction to that putt is what bothers me about Spieth, walking after it as if he just hit the worst putt of his life and rolls in straight in the middle, he does it regularly enough it makes him seem flukey, giving out about shots that turn out to be great

    Exciting finish

I was talking about the short ones he missed before it but yeah, don't know what that was about. He was blessed to stay out of the water on both 13 and 15.

Sorry, more of a rant than a response to your post

Rory was still -0.088 in Strokes Gained putting in shooting a 64, Spieth is -1.676 for his day

Another great break for Speith after hitting that tree.

He could never cover 227 with a 5 iron, even slightly down wind

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,522 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

I was 20 mins early with the prediction. I'd love to know how many times he holes out per year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

    Ah here, he is ridiculous

    Luke Donald on twitter

"Love that -12 won this week on a 6850 yard course, last week at Erin Hills 7650 yards & -16 wins. Making courses long isn't the answer!"

Making courses longer and less penal is crazy.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 222 ✭✭luvthegame

Instead of making courses longer for tour events dont just graduate the rough sideways, start doing it lengthways. The further you get off the tee the longer the rough gets

I'd say Fowler is kicking himself. Blew it on one hole.

Bones moving over to commentary. Strange on... surely he could make a lot of money on an up and coming golfer's bag.

Yeah I remember him and he was great... just think he could get on one of the top bags on tour and make lots of $$$

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,162 ✭✭✭benny79

Maybe he's happy with what $$$ he has and is semi retiring ;)

If he's going to commentary I'd say his knees must be shot and he can't carry a bag for 4 rounds anymore.

Next up is the Canadian Open. DJ and Kuch the highest ranked in it. Lowry and McDowell are playing as is Poulter.
