Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That's a fair point regarding it being a pro am, just thought with the revised field for the final round it wouldn't take that long, but amateurs can be very slow...!! Nice to see someone like Vaughn Taylor win it, struggling to get their card etc.

Right, so Villegas shoots 8 under and Spieth shoots 8 over! None of us saw that coming. He seemed very out of sorts!

Crazy game... Jordan's putting last night looked terrible. I know these greens are supposed to be difficult for short putts but still.

And as for BeJasus (Villegas), he has missed the cut at his last 4 events and then goes and shoots that score last night. Perhaps a tip for some... he likes the Honda Classic course next week.

Anyone see what happened on the Last he 3 Putted from 8ft. Reading the app he put the 1st one 4ft past then missed that 4ft'er by putting it 2ft past!

Was their a tricky break or just a dose on the unmentionables?

I watched him up to the 14th hole last night. He had some real 2015 Tiger-esque moments, wild drives, fatted wedges and three putts from 8ft.

I hope this is just a bump in the road and not a sign of something more serious.

Showing some coverage (including Rory) on the red button and sky sports xtra online. Rory opens with a birdie.. have a feeling he will go low today.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

Rory playing some very scrappy golf.... and is 2 under thru 3 holes! Just holed a 58 foot putt after a poor drive and poor approach.

Quiet fascinating watching the players play the short par 4 10th at riviera.

Only 312 yards with no OB or water in play. Many players struggling to par the hole never mind have a reasonable chance for birdie.

The hole even plays over par if they lay up. Just goes to show how you don't need lots of water, any OB or 500 yard par 4's to cause issues and drama.

Such a simple well designed hole.

Yeah great point - it's such a good hole. Posted this last year... just shows how it can turn to carnage for some :D

Rory's wedge play has looked dire this week. Just had a bogey on the 3rd after having just 115 yards to go and comes up 12 yards short! Hopefully he can sort it out over the next few weeks.

Mcilroy has settled down on the greens. At -8 made some nice putts from 5th to 10th.
    Super looking course

How on earth does buba get around at all - he is all over the shop , and is 12 under.

Are my matchs correct in thinking the leaders will be out by 6.30 our time? Wouldn't mind watching a bit of it tonight.

Final group out at 6:20pm our time... hoping for a good finish with a few big names battling it out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Think we could be in for a cracking final round.
Some big names up at the top and both Watson & Johnson have great form around this course.
Hope Watson wins for my pp account but could see the winner coming from 3rd last group of Rory. Scott and leishman

it's such a bunched leaderboard, there are lots of contenders and the finish is almost bound to be tight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

    Harrington birdies the first!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Great putt by Scoot for eagle, McIllroy follows him in!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

And Rory opens with an eagle.. what a start.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Eagle Eagle birdie for Rory's group on the first hole!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

Think that 1st hole needs to be a par 4.

Rory's first wedge shot coming up on 3... will be interesting to see after some recent very dodgey wedge play.

No - I'm just impatiently going by shot tracker :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Left himself a bit of work anyway and then put the putt quite a bit past.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,378 ✭✭✭HighLine

Such a sloppy 3 putt there from Rory.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

Adam Scott doubles 8. That'll help bunch the leaderboard again!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,001 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

Kokrak is dead right to lay up there on that hole -
The way I see it anyway - a sure Birdie putt ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,076 ✭✭✭✭vienne86

I was so looking forward to this evening's golf, but with Rory on 3 over and Padraig on 5 over, I think I'll go to bed!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

Just catching up with the golf now. Can't believe where Rory has ended up after that eagle start.
Knew that group would get something going though.
Hope bubba stays in there for the money :)

Off topic but Hozier puts on one epic gig. Absolutely fantastic show he put on.

Until new rules or penalties are introduced, it won't change unfortunetly.

Good man bubba :) money money money :)

    Jaysus.

Unless Buba was joking. He lined up the tap in for about 15/20 seconds.

I might try that next week .

You are quite right - it's ridiculous. I fell asleep watching it!

Don't think there would be too many people more qualified to make this judgement. Agree with him.

Phil Mickelson believes none of the 'big four' are close to Tiger Woods in his prime
"We have a lot of great young players in the game. And if you look at the top four right now, those four guys are quality - quality people, too. They represent the game well. They're wonderful guys to be around. And they have remarkable games.

But there is nobody in the game of golf that I have seen that is remotely close to the level of performance Tiger was in his prime. Mentally, short game, or ball striking, I don't think anybody matches him in any of those areas. And Tiger put them all together in one to create a career that is mind-boggling."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,001 ✭✭✭✭FixdePitchmark

I'd have to agree with the mental aspect with Rory.

People go on about Rory being up for things. Tiger was up for everything all the time. It wasn't even in the the lexicon with Tiger.

It is fine if Rory wants to be like that - but hard to see it working for him - in the way Tiger used the mental game.

I think the difference between them might be that it seems to us that Rory has a life outside golf. Eldricks life was golf.
