Heard from a mate that there was raid from the immigration team @ Pizzahut, Navan, and they grounded an illegal immigrant who has been working there for a year. Wondering what are the fines these days for the employer? Thanks

All contained in the Employment Permits Act 2003 and 2006.

    (3) A person who contravenes subsection (1) or (2) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable—

    (a) on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding €3,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or both, or

    (b) if the offence is an offence consisting of a contravention of subsection (2), on conviction on indictment, to a fine not exceeding €250,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years or both.

From the few I have seen in DC fine is usually around €1,500.00.

Cheap at half the price. In the UK, the maximum fine is £10k for each person they find. I was watching UK Customs and Immigration raided an Indian restaurant in Glasgow. Found three illegals working there. The owner was literally sweating buckets when they turned up! Think he was fined £20k in the end.

And the maximum fine in Ireland is €250,000 per charge, each employee could be a seperate charge.
