Are they? Ibrahimovic is as good as Falcao, Lavezzi is better than Rodriguez....sure Monaco have Moutinho but remember PSG signed probably the best centre half in the world as well.

Ibra, Lavezzi and Silva all joined in 2012-13 season no?

Monaco still have a fair bit to do in the transfer market yet to compete with PSG. Also they need a good squad not just the first 11.

    Good manager helps too.

I've barely watched La Liga this year. Supposedly had a good season. Think he scored fifteen.

Roma are reportedly in talks with Fulham to sell Maarten Stekelenburg so they can bring in Rafael from Santos or Bolton’s Adam Bogdan.

Not only that, but hes being presented to the fans on Monday, day after the match vs England

Can't understand how people still say Ibrahimovic flopped at Barca? Similar to the way he was never given credit by the British media up until recently (his 4 goal destruction of England helped a lot). One of the most naturally gifted, adaptable, well rounded players to play the game in a long time imo. The guy has it all. Definitely one of my favourite ever players to watch.

Any confirmation on exactly how much Barca paid for Neymar? If it's €45m+ then the money would have been better spent improving other areas of the squad in my opinion.

Think it was 28 Million upfront with various other add ons, god knows what it could rise too.

I'm not sure if that includes the reported good will gesture of about 10 Million, to get 1st option on him about 2 years ago.

the €10million fee from two years ago is separate afaik.

I've read in a few places that in all, this could end up costing upwards of €50million within 3 years and more than €60 by the end of his contract between addons for goals, cl wins, league wins and even brazilian national team results.

Sounds like Santos could make an absolute killing out of this by the end of it.

Sports investment group DIS - a subsidiary of supermarket chain Sonda Group - owned 40% of Neymar’s economic rights while TEISA held 5% and Santos the remaining 55%. The €28m is said to have been shared out between them.

Do Barca get all of him or just a %? Anyone know?

This is his big sale so I'd imagine his whole rights will be sold. If you owned a % of his contract like that company does, now would be the time to sell. He won't be sold for higher than what he's going for now.

Apparently Chelsea are considering offering €30million + Torres for Cavani.

I'd say Aurelio De Laurentiis will laugh in their faces.

That would be over 40 million pounds in total value, no?

He'd have to take a massive pay cut to fit into Napoli's wage structure and Chelsea would have to add a fair bit more than €30million to tempt Napoli in the fitst place.

His buyout clause is about €64 million, whatever he goes for, it's going to have to match that. De Laurentiis has said the only way he's leaving is if the buyout is met and he wants to go.

And then there is the matter Torress being on massive wages, which Napoli don't do.

If there is no other offer on the table, and Cavani wants to go, I think they would be mad to refuse. Torres is about as good a replacement as they could hope to get IMO.

But Cavani doesn't want to go. His agent even said today that he's happy in Naples.

The only club he's ever said he'd like to go to was Real Madrid.
They haven't made an offer as far as I know.

And I think they could do a lot better than Torres, especially wage wise.

Well if he doesn't want to go, then the price tag doesn't matter too much, unless it's astronomical or meets his release clause.

I can't think of too many better replacements that would be willing to join Napoli. Throughout the season gone, even when not first choice. Torres has shown lots of signs that he still has it and just needs a run to build confidence.

I don't think he'd be willing to take the pay cut needed to sign for Napoli anyway. He's on stupid wages at Chelsea.
AFAIK he's their highest paid player.

Hazard took over that mantle last year.

Reports suggesting hes on 185K and poor Torres is only on 175k.

Modibo Diakite has signed for Sunderland on a free transfer from Lazio. Any Italian football followers tell me more about him please? Can't say I know anything about him at all to be honest:

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/30/sunderland-lazio-modibo-diakite
Sunderland have agreed a deal with Lazio for the central defender Modibo Diakité. The club are yet to confirm the move for the France-born 26-year-old but the news is further evidence of the manager Paolo Di Canio's determination to rebuild the squad he inherited from Martin O'Neill as quickly as possible.

Sunderland are also understood to have completed much of the groundwork to sign the Basel midfielder Cabral and the Marítimo defender Valentin Roberge.

Defence will be a particular focus for Di Canio this summer with Titus Bramble and Matt Kilgallon due to leave when their contracts expire at the end of next month, the loan signing Danny Rose having returned to Tottenham and Phil Bardsley's future uncertain after his infamous casino incident.

Di Canio is also closing in on a move to appoint Internazionale's Valentino Angeloni as his head of scouting.

Very much in the Chris Samba mould of centre backs. Big strong lump of a lad who won't be easily beaten in the air and has a bit of pace about him.

Leonardo won't be managing PSG next season. He's just been handed a 9 month ban for pushing a referee.

It was looking very likely that he was going to replace Ancelotti if he went off to Madrid. PSG have been given a suspended 3 point fine.

because he's a member of their club...

there was talk of it & also because he was in the dressing room when banned from it

Leonardo's your man if you want a heavy defeat in the Champions League knockout stages, and not much else. He's no manager.

Erm, compared to the likes of Kilgannon and Bramble, yeah, he's a step up. He's not world class or anything but he's a decent player.

The only chatter I've read about him is that he was going back to Inter as a Director of Football if and when Carlo left PSG. He has no interest in managing, he left the inter job to take a DoF role.

What I got from it was that all he was saying is that he's sticking to his word about leaving Barca....but everyone presumed he'd leave in the summer when he announced it in January but instead he's staying on until next year to see out his contract and then he'll leave for certain...all he said really a few months back was that he's not extending his contract..he said that he's exhausted with the pressure of being in goal of a top club for so long...he's denying it's anything to do with money or whatever...seems like a nice thing to do in fairness because Barca aren't in a serious rush to find a new keeper now...eventhough Barca wont get money for him now...

I hope that liverpool 'player' (for lack of a better term) that bit a player & racially abused another (fact, not an insult/accusation, surely cant be banned for this!!!!!) Will be out the door so we dont have to look at him anymore!!!!!

Also a 3 point deduction for next season.

PSG are appealing though so would expect the ban to be reduced and the points deduction removed.

I thought his contract was up this summer.

TBH they should bring in a replacement now anyway and look for a bit of money for Valdes, if he refuses stick him on the bench for the season while the new guy gets bedded in.

Any Barca fans wanna hazard a guess as to who'll eventually replace Valdes?

The man has Barcelona running through his veins. A boy born in Barcelona, has worked his way through the youth teams, a product of La Masia. He's gone on to prove himself as one if the best goalkeepers in the history of Barcelona, an outstanding shot stopper, a top drawer one vs one goalkeeper, a technically gifted goalkeeper who plays out from the back, the Barca way, and is very quick of his line to sweep up danger (a sweeper keeper, important to Barcelona's high line defending) and a powerful communicator.

For me he's in the top 5 goalkeepers in the world, maybe a case could even be made for top 3. That we get another year of him can only be a good thing.
