I hope to god this isn't the season where Dortmund get taken apart. With Goetze off to Bayern, and interest from Europe's top clubs in Lewandowski, Subotic and Hummels, it doesn't look good. Would be such a shame to see

I hope, Watze will be able to put a cap on such a travesty...

LOL, not exactly her most flattering picture!

I'm not sure if 46m would actually buy Falcao, Atletico paid a pretty similar figure and unless they need to sell or he wont sign a new contract etc, would be looking for a bit more i'd imagine.

Lewandowski is expected to join Bayern too

Bild reporting that Falcao & Mourinho are both joining Chelsea

Lewandowski has agreed to two contracts with Bayern. One starting this summer if they can agree a fee with Dortmund and one starting next summer if they cannot agree a fee.

    According to Bild.

If true, they are backing Dortmund into a corner here.

His agent says on Polish TV - "Robert will play next year with an even bigger club. Before we get official confirmation, I hope that the clubs agree among themselves. "

Also, Rene Adler to Arsenal for £5m according to the Daily Express. I should probably put that in the humour thread though.

It's a bit **** seeing Dortmund picked apart like this.

If the Lewandowski rumour is true it will be an absolute tragedy. Really like Dortmund and would hate to see an exodus of their talent. If Goetze and Lewandowski stayed aswell as the manager they extablish themselves as one of Europe's top teams.

And it's pretty sh1t that all this speculation is going on while they are in the latter stages of the Champions League. It would be some achievement for them to go on and win it now.

Why, is he not worth £5m/the fee is too low?

As regards Dortmund being picked apart; welcome to the life of an Arsenal fan! At least the BVB faithful got to see some trophies :pac:

Jesus, Daily Express could at least have put a 1 in front of that 5 for the Adler bid. Yano, show a tiny bit of interest in pretending to be a decent paper.

I'm not even a BVB fan, but I'd be devastated to see Lewandowski join Bayern. Why is there an exodus? They're a top team! The lack of loyalty in football is sickening at times.

He's better than any of the other keepers linked to ye but he's not going anywhere unless a €20m+ bid comes in.

Dortmund's wage budget is somewhere between €60m-€70m. Bayern's is €160m.

It's a bit **** seeing Dortmund picked apart like this.

There's always teams around Europe it happens to. Sampdoria in the 90's, Valencia etc. Unless your the real big fish in your country consistently, players have higher levels to go to, it's just football really.

Surely Lewandowski cannot talk to Bayern until a bid is accepted? And perhaps that bid is accepted to get a contract in place for this summer.. But they cannot open dialogue with him about joining at the end of his Dortmund contract until the last 6 months of that contract? Clutching at straws here.

That is the rule but unless the player is caught in a room with another club official (e.g. Ashley Cole) then its near impossible to enforce. I would like to see the influence & fees for agents somehow reduced.

    Jake Carroll confirmed :(

Best of luck Jake, going to be an irish international one day. Beast of a player and can only get better. Fair play to him on completing his degree then moving.

    TOWN SIGNS JAKE CARROLL
Huddersfield Town has today completed the signing of Jake Carroll from top League of Ireland side St Patrick’s Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 21 year-old, who operates mainly at left back but also has experience in central midfield, has previously spent two separate spells on trial with the Terriers and will now join up with the Club permanently at the conclusion of the current season to prepare for the 2013/14 campaign.

London-born Carroll grew up in Lucan, Ireland and played the majority of his youth football for Home Farm but had a short spell at Belvedere before joining St Pats’ Under-20 side in 2010. During this time he was capped by Republic of Ireland’s schools side whilst at university.

Since breaking into the First Team he has made over 50 appearances for the Club, which includes Europa League appearances in Ukraine, Iceland and Germany.

Carroll was the first player to be a part of a pioneering scholarship programme between St Patrick’s Athletic and the National University of Ireland in Maynooth and the move coincides with the completion of his degree in Business.

Following its success, the scholarship has now been extended to 4 recipients per year.

Commenting on the signing, Chairman of St Patrick’s Athletic Garrett Kelleher said “I am particularly pleased that Jake could complete his third level education and now embark on his football career with a degree which we hope will serve him well in future years. We wish him the very best of luck at Huddersfield Town.”

The six footer spent seven days training with Town in February before returning for a second spell during the First Team squad’s three day training stint at the FA National Football Centre, St. George’s Park, in March.

Huddersfield Town Manager Mark Robins commented on Jake:

“Jake impressed me a lot when he was here a few weeks ago on trial. He is left sided, quick, powerful and has a good attitude with an aptitude to learn quickly.

“He will have to adapt to the style of football in England, but he arrives with the challenge of breaking into our First Team.

“Ireland is an interesting market for English clubs. A lot of talented Irish players arrive in England at 16 years old, in the same way that we recently recruited the country’s Under-16 Captain Danny Kane from Cherry Orchard, whereas others are identified after emerging in a League of Ireland team at aged 20 or 21, such as James McClean and Seamus Coleman. Jake comes under the latter of those two routes.”

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,480 ✭✭✭✭cson

That scholarship is a great idea.

There's something to be said for talented young Irish footballers staying at home, doing something like that and learning their trade in the Airtricity.

If you look at how Coleman, McClean, Doyle, Long, Hoolahan, Sammon, Stevens and Ward have all gone the English route that way. Any young lad starting out here only needs to look at that to see you can still make it if you don't go to England as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

It'd be a real pity if Lewondowski went to Bayern. You'd wonder why Bayern even need him? They've already got Gomez, Mandzukic and Pizarro and only ever play one striker. Seems to be a case of buying all the oppositions assets to damage them moreso than actually buying players they need, sickening stuff.

Even Mandzukic might find himself discarded if Lewa does go there. Gomez and Pizarro almost certainly will regardless.

Selling Pizarro & Gomez is likely and should make the club alot of money which will offset the cost of getting Gotze & Lewa.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,379 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Pizarro is available on a free (should they choose not to re-sign him, not decided yet) and is well capable of being the main guy still. He'll be a great signing for someone. Scored 18 in 29 for Bremen last season before moving to Bayern.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,188 ✭✭✭Montroseee

I know from relatives living in Germany that there has been discontent and frustration with Gomez.

I'd almost take him at Arsenal if he hadn't had such a bad spell at Chelsea. A Davor Suker esque signing.

Its down to Dortmund not to sell to their rivals, im sure there are plenty of clubs across Europe who would be willing to pay the right amount for Lewa. As an outsider it seems that the gap between the two clubs will get bigger, his mind set can't be 100% focused on a potential final between the two clubs either, along with Gotze. Seems like underhand tactics from Bayern trying to unsettle him.

The kagawa sale financed most of it in what seems like an upgrade. Im sure they'll replace gotze fairly well with 37 mill to spend on it

Go onto Wiki look at Lisbon, Porto and Benficas squads.....then look at "players currently out on loan".

Then look at who actually owns these players.

Benfica had 31 players (all south american) out on loan last season, slave trade is alive and well in modern football.

The Remy to Liverpool story seems to have some plausibility though. But I doubt he'd want to be a back up striker.

id imagine he'd be part of Liverpools squad but would initally be involved wholesale given Suarez's ban. He's on 80,000 a week so L'Pool are one of the few sides that could afford him.

The Fabregas becoming available is an interesting one. I would imagine all clubs would be interested there with only the biggest being able to compete.
