That would be a serious coup for City. Best young player in the world right now for me. Makes sense given manager link.

Im a big fan of Isco, but I think its a shame the hype machine will now go into overdrive on him :(

Interesting to see how they line up next season if he does move there.

Switch Silva with Isco, and Richards for Zabaleta and you have the first choice team for next year. Very excited about the front 4!

That's what I would think too, Isco centrally and Silva from the left operating in his free role

Switch the best RB in the league last year for Richards?

    Richards for Zabaletta??

Its a serious looking line up if Isco does go to City.
I'd say moves will be made for him once the U21s finish up.

You could possibly add in another striker to the mix also if Tevez moves to alternate with Aguero/Dzeko

Richards offers far more dynamic to the team than Zaba does, especially with the proposed new signings and front 4. It will require alot more running from both full backs to provide width when Navas/Silva cut inside. Zaba had an excellent season last season but Richards was out injured for 90% of it. Micah is the first choice RB.

Micah is the first choice RB.

Disagree completely, and I hope Pellegrini does too!

    I knew you would! :p

The year before when Richards was fit, he was the first choice, and rightly so. Zabaleta rotated between RB and LB and played some time at DM also. He did start all European games ahead of Richards at RB though.

Who knows how Pellegrini will play it though. I know who I'd have there.

For me the weakest link in that team would be Clichy, could be a very impressive front four if Navas and Isco were to settle quick.
and that would probaby also take them past the €100million mark for the summer, which is just sickening and gives two fingers to this farcical FFP set up.

surely they will have to sell a few players? can see them signing a defender also and if Panti leaves, they will need a back up keeper perhaps.

who else is supposed to be leaving City anyway? Toure is gone i think, would expect maybe Sinclair to go, though that would then start to see them being under pressure with the homegrown rule.

FFP hasn't kicked in yet wont begin to come into effect until October of this year and it will be next summer before we see how serious there taking it, Gazidis Arsenal's chief executive recently admitted no club really know how that is going to pan out yet.

End of the 2011/2012 season when both Richards and Zabaleta were fit, Zabaleta was definitely first choice.

There was a fair bit of rotation between them before that.

You absolutely have to have a player like Zab on the team, he is one of the city players I really admire and love watching him play

Last six games, yes Zabaleta played and not Richards, due to an injury he picked up against WBA put Zaba into the side, and you don't change a winning team in the closing stages. Prior to that Zabaleta was rotated with Richards and Clichy for a short period.

What's the reason Malaga have been banned from European competition? Thought it was FFP related.

it's for not paying money owed, on either wages or to others possibly both

other teams have been banned too when they next qualify, Rapid Bucharest being one i think

a load of them were investigated, some nothing will happen to, as they paid up/satisfied UEFA

Kolo is gone, Tevez, Dzeko, Barry and Sinclair all linked to leave. Nasri will most likely be moved on if we aquire Isco.

As for the homegrown rule, it will leave 7 out of the required 8 at the club if Barry and Sinclair move on. Hopefully Barry will stay, but he has only a year left on his contract and Spurs are interested.

Hart, Wright, Richards, Clichy, Lescot, Milner, Rodwell.

there is no real requirement on homegrown players - that's just the way it's spinned

it's a requirement of not having more than 17 non-HG in the squad list

the maximum squad list is 25, you don't have to name 25

you can name a squad of 17 non-HG & use the youth squad for the others

but if you want to name 25, with the max non-HG being 17 the other 8 can't be nothing else than HG :pac:

Contradicting his agent Isco has said there is two clubs he is considering and hasn't made a decision on either. It's between City and Real. He has stated his admiration of Pellegrini, but will he want to move to England or stay in Spain? He said he'd announce his decision in a week.

From a Malaga pov, good news if there are 2 clubs after Isco, keep the price up.

Even though I'm not a City fan, I'd love to see him in the pl.

True, but will either club have to raise the bid past his release clause? Not 100% but thought I saw it quoted as £24 million. If they meet that, it will be more of a signing on fee increase rather than a transfer fee increase. The only one I can see really benefiting financially is Isco.

It looks good but there isn't many goals in the team.

Navas scored 0 goals from 36 games last season
    Isco 9 in 36
    Silva 4 in 30
    Toure 6 in 30
    Fernandinho 2 in 23
    Aguero 12 in 30

There is the likes of Tevez, Nasri, Dzeko(pending) to chip in but they will need Aguero or Tevez to have at least 25 goals in them to compete.

A team needs to score roughly 80 goals a season to win a league.

I disagree too, Zabs for me, you can't buy the kind of consistency he contributes.

It's hard to say how it will pan out, as with the combination of those new players, you would expect chance creation to radically increase. I would say Augero is easily a 20+ goal haul next year with that support, however I would agree that the rest might not drastically increase, but would expect double figure goals/assists from Silva next year too.

City announced that they are not finished with their high priced aquistions so you might have another Striker to add to that mix.

I suppose taking it literally there is no requirement for home grown players at all, if you have 8 U-21's in your squad.

no, there is no need for them, it's not a requirement

the only time you need them is if you want to list a 25 man squad, you've no choice but having 8 HG in that scenario

only 6 clubs listed 25 man squads for the second part of the season
    http://www.premierleague.com/content/dam/premierleague/site-content/News/publications/squad-lists/squad-lists-February-2013.pdf

& you wouldn't include the u21's in your squad, just list them in the u21 squad

Apparently City have offered €40million + Dzeko for Cavanni.

If Napoli can get another €5 million I'd take it. Dzeko is actually the perfect replacement for Napoli's system and they'd have money to spend on the squad.

He is what city are missing, they need a confident player upfront that nicks the win for them. Thats where they failed last year.
Batotelli was savage 2011/12 and missed his goals (18)last season.
As good as navas and co are they need cavanni or a player very similar!

I remember last week on Sky they said Dzeko doesn't want to go there(he is definetly not too good to be there, thats for sure). They also said he'd favour a move to Milan, sure we have plenty of money,oh wait. Napoli are being linked with Rami, Maertens and Cerci so I imagine they are expecting him to leave.

Hilarious. The best midfielder in La Liga not playing for Barcelona, moving to Southampton? He's good enough for any team in Europe. No chance of this happening at all.

True, different types and even though Alonso is the best at that 40 Yard ball (very much ala scholes) I prefer Banega too. Although I freely admit Alonso looses points for being ex-Liverpool scum;)

A number of times :P He's also posted videos of himself having a Tom Hank on webcam, been pictured in rival teams' jerseys, ran himself over with his car at a petrol station...

but when he's on form (and he has been these past few months) he's phenomenal.
