The guys tasked with bringing in FFP aren't idiots; they've a lot more experience of financial regulation than the boardsie posters who’ve spent all of 10 seconds coming up with ingenious schemes for getting round the rules... it's pretty well documented at this stage. Middle Eastern billionaires splurging on their branding vehicles isn’t proof that FFP is irrelevant.

As an Arsenal fan I don't need FFP to work, I need the club to sort its management out, as financially it is big enough to compete regardless. But I understand that as a proponent of Liverpool spending beyond their means I understand you need to believe it will fail.

Every now and again you need to break the mould and of all the players available and willing to go I think Spurs have done very well, if he fires Spurs to a top 4 or better next year then they'll add again and his age, at least for 3 or 4 seasons shouldnt matter to much.

I think Palmeri at this stage has been sufficiently debunked as a credible source.

If levy is going to sell he won't sell him because Bale convinced him it will be because the potential earnings he can bring to the club will be recouped elsewhere by re-investing the money he receives from Madrid or by Madrid simply paying over the odds.

It's Angel Di Maria, Fabio Coentrao and $57 million in exchange for Bale.
Implicit in all this is that Di Maria and Coentrao are worth $68 million combined.

Di Maria is worth 25m at the very least and Coentrao is a 15-20m player. If they can get those 2 and a chunk of change like is being reported along with the signing of Salgado they'll probably be significant better off than they were before with Bale and that's before spending the profit.

There won't be any profit when taking wages into account if that's the case

Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Angel Di Maria and Coentrao for Bale is a bloody great summer for Spurs without spending anything on transfer fees (though wages and signing on fees would be quite high you'd think)

I was in favour of a move like that last month but with Nani now seemingly staying and Zaha and Januzaj shining in preseason I'd rather have a 3 behind the striker of Rooney(presuming he stays until something changes) Kagawa and Nani with Young, Valencia, Zaha and Januzaj as backup. I think that's deep enough. If Rooney goes though I'd be all for it.

I'd also love to see Coentrao at United, always been a big fan.
