Hey, I'm considering getting my facial cheeks waxed as I have some very light (nearly fluffy facial hair in places) I'm naturally blonde so it's not that obvious but its annoying all the same.

Has anyone here ever got this done and would you recommend it, whats the upkeep like with it and did it cause any bad side effects. I've been reading that it can cause spots etc.

    Any advice would be great:)

I have PCOS (which causes excess hair growth due to messed up hormone levels) so I've been getting lip/chin waxes for a few years, as well as some wee spots on my cheeks. I don't find it too sore - it smarts a bit and makes your eyes water, but that's the height of it really! I haven't found that it causes spots, but I know my mum sometimes gets them after waxing so it must just depend on the individiual.

Upkeep wise, it kind of varies. I usually get 5 or 6 weeks out of a wax. But it takes longer to grow back after you get a good few waxes so maybe it would be about 3 or 4 weeks for regrowth at first.

Thanks Seren, good to know its not too painful!! Would you be very red after getting it done?

A bit red yeah, but it usually is gone after 20 mins or so. I know any salon I've been to has asked if I'd like concealer put on to cover it, but I know not all places do that so it's a good idea to have some with you just in case.

Hiya. I've pcos as well.. I used to get lip & small patch of blonde hair on chin waxed & its fine. I've started getting it threaded & I'm delighted with results. No red skin after.

My friend just mentioned threading to me last night and I think this is what I'll try as the waxing may be a bit harsh for my skin

I have Pcos as well and I wax my face myself, but I started off getting it done in salons. It does hurt abit esb the first few times but its done so quickly and its literally just a second or two of pain, it does leave your face a little bit red but nothing major and it calms down quite quickly. HTH

    Hi,

I'm sure you have had your question answered a long time ago. But I thought I would post in case there is other woman like myself looking at your post tonight.
I have pcos and because of it I use to get a lot of facial hair. I now attended st James hospital because there is a laser hair removal specialist there Dr.Irvan. ( is done on the medical card)
I use to be so self conscious about it and when my family would try to talk to me about it I would shut the topic down. I'm now going for my 5th treatment on the 27th and the results are AMAZING!!

Even after the first treatment I found the results to be amazing. Yes it is uncomfortable but I have found the numbing cream and painkillers work for me when I am going up for treatment.

It was my mum that actually found out about the Dr in St. James on a thread here on boards. I don't think I'll ever find the thread to thank the lady that posted about it that time. But if she ever comes across this post I would like her to know how she has changed my life, I could not thank her enough and how I will be forever grateful.

If someone comes across my post and would like advice on it I'm more than happy to answer what I can. I still have a long road ahead of me but it's a happier road than what I was on before.

Does anyone follow Huda beauty on Instagram? She promotes shaving your face! Some people actually swears by it before applying foundation.
