    Taken from:

    Trademe's Employment review results (January-March 2013)

The national employment market is still growing year-on-year, according to an analysis of 41,000 roles on Trade Me Jobs over the last quarter. Job vacancies were up 5.3% on this time last year but demand has reduced slightly. We could be moving towards a job-hunter's market - so now's the time to grab your dream job!

    Highest paid professions

    Doctors and specialists ($136,860)
    IT Architects ($135,837)
    IT Functional consultants ($134,881)
    IT Project management ($126,382)
    IT Management ($119,482)

    Highest and lowest paid locations

Again, Wellington City holds the highest average income ($71,955) with big brother Auckland City sitting closely behind ($71,773). Timaru ($61,370), South Taranaki ($60,767) and Whakatane ($59,650) all did well, rounding out our top five paying locations for the past quarter.

Waipa ($44,874), Waitaki (45,407) and Queenstown ($45,467) hold the lowest average incomes across the country.

    Growing regions and professions

Gisborne achieved the highest growth since last year with a 30.4% increase in the number of vacancies. Next in line were Hawke's Bay (23.5%) and Otago (19%).

Given the rebuild is fully underway there's no surprise the construction & architecture industry had the biggest year on year spike (47.7%) and was closely followed by the transport & logistics (30.6%), and trades & services sectors (26.5%).

Not surprising at all given that it's based on a survey of jobs listed on TradeMe. I'm kinda picking that not too many jobs for doctors, school principals etc get advertised there.

Yeah Wellington is great for ICT, many the top international bluechips have got offices here and there are lots of public sector IT operations here too.

IBM, Unisys, Fujitsu, Microsoft, Oracle, HP, Gen-i, Datacom to name a few.

Means there is usually a good demand for contact and full time IT staff. Development roles, solution design engineers, business analysts, project managers etc etc.

Oops I forgot to mention Xero, these guys are desperate for developers and even offer a $10,000 bonus if you apply direct!

They make excellent cloud based accounting software.

Do companies like this take on Graduates on a Working Holiday Visa?

Probably hard get a short term contract role without work experience and they don't tend to offer full time perm roles to WHV holders...but you might get lucky.

They are crying out for experienced fire engineers down here and it is one of the highest paid engineering fields at the minute.

The engineering scales look light to me tbh. Starting salary is an average of 55-60k in NP, never mind average
