Borini is such a tremendously underwhelming player.

EDIT: lol, after being poor all game he pops up with a great turn and finish to win it!

Borini with a lovely little goal for the u21s there.

could be a winner in this semi.

Just heard on BBC that Honda is on the lookout for a new club.

Worth a bid maybe? Or would we have any use for him?

About us being interested for Sunderland's keeper. Reina could do with the competition tbh.

Nice finish from Borini to put Italy into the finals.

    Fair play to him!

Its far too early to judge Borini. He was played out of his favourite position through the middle then missed most of the season and finished the season well.

Will you stop with your common sense amber......our signings must be awesome and hit the ground running instantly......unless your Andy Carroll, then you deserve all the time in the world because Andy gives us an different option up front.....:pac:

Another pretty reliable north-east source, who claims it could be £9m:

    Paul Fraser ‏@paulfraserecho 1m
Hearing Mignolet increasingly likely to move to #lfc and could be for £9m. Long term signing for Reds but a hard man to replace for #safc

Im old enough to remember late 70s and especially 80s and most players were signed and took time to establish themselves into the team one exception been Dalglish.

Very hard to see it being that way. Think if Mignolet comes in, Reina goes.

Has anyone seen enough of mignolet and Fraser Forster at celtic to compare the two? There's rumours that Sunderland may now be interested in him, and given the money he's on at Celtic, he's unlikely to reject a move to the premiership

I haven't seen enough of mignolet to say, but always been a fan of 'Lurch'

I hardly think he is a replacement for Suarez. I think it's more dependent on the Carroll situation than Suarez and it's rumoured that Carroll is close to moving to West Ham permanently.

I read that as he had scrapped plans to go to Brazil to sign him. I was wondering what Mkhitaryan was doing in Brazil.

If he's only going to be effective down the middle, then his game time could be fairly harmless.
Sturridge is ahead of him, and obviously Suarez. If Suarez goes, and another striker is bought in replacement, then you'd imagine it will be someone good enough to start.

A scenario like the above will limit Borini to sub appearances, the odd rotation and his only regular starts would be due to other injuries
a la Sturridge at the minute

Luis Suarez has urged Liverpool to heed his wishes as he continues to be linked with a summer departure from Anfield.

The Uruguay striker appears set to end a turbulent two-and-half-year spell in England, claiming his love for the club is outweighed by what he perceives as unfair treatment from the Football Association and the English media.

Suarez, who has six matches of a 10-match domestic ban still to serve for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in April, has yet to submit an official transfer request.

But the 26-year-old, currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup, has reiterated his desire to join Real Madrid and says his aspirations should be key to any decision over his future.

"They must agree with other teams, but the word of the player, in this case mine, is important. If you need a change, you should listen to the player."

"First I have a contract with the club, but if one day I want to sign (for another club), Liverpool will hear the offer, as it does with other players," Suarez was quoted as telling Spanish newspaper Marca.

"They must agree with other teams, but the word of the player, in this case mine, is important. If you need a change, you should listen to the player.

"Every player aspires (to be the best) and if you ask a child of eight years they would say one day they would go to Real Madrid or Barcelona."

Suarez, who signed a new contract last summer and has four years of his current deal left to run, has claimed manager Brendan Rodgers is aware of his desire to leave.

But Liverpool disputed that in a statement released last month and said they expected their star man to honour his contract.

Suarez has been a divisive figure during his time at Liverpool, with misdemeanors ranging from his racial abuse of Manchester United's Patric Evra, to a perennial debate about diving and finally his biting of Ivanovic.

"There are moments of importance (in games) and I have lived football in a very particular way since childhood. But I know I can play tricks."
    Luis Suarez
Liverpool's fans have stuck by him throughout, recognising his brilliance as a player, and he admits that he will always appreciate their support.

"The love I have for Liverpool I will never forget," he added.

"I love the city, the club and the people and everyone is welcome. All I ask is for respect for all the things that have been said."

Suarez has also conceded that some of his critics may be right in condemning his on-field theatrics.

"There are moments of importance (in games) and I have lived football in a very particular way since childhood," he said.

"But I know I can play tricks.

"Sometimes I protest too much to the referee. I have to take it a bit better."

To be honest, I just want to see the back of him now. He's going to be whining until he gets his move. I'm tired of him now.

I'm worried that he's the kind of character that will sulk and strop all next season and upset the atmosphere in the dressing room if he doesn't get his way. I know people say 'but he always gives 100% on the pitch no matter what'. You could have said the same thing about Carlos Tevez, but when he didn't get his way he spat the dummy big time.

Suarez is acting like a man in a panic to get out at the moment. Panic + terrible temperament = a recipe for big trouble. I hope he goes, and goes soon. Flame away.

Again, plenty of noise from Suarez, but not much from the clubs he seems happy to talk about. Strange given how vocal both real and Barca usually are in this regard

Monaco, PSG or juve would be my bet. Hopefully either of the French clubs as they'd pay a higher fee

    i wouldn't say that
    Real might get Cavani instead
    Bayern are only after Lewandowski
Monaco have Falcao,PSG have Ibrahimovic & Juventus don't have the money to buy him
i personally think he will be a Liverpool player next season

I know for some Suarez is bigger than the club and can do whatever he wants without criticism, but for me he should STFU.

If he wants to leave, hand in a transfer request.
Otherwise, the £100,000 we pay him every week should be enough to buy some fckuing silence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,724 ✭✭✭gafferino

When this first started I thought it was just the usual stuff....thought we would here some sort of retraction from him the following day.

Zidane talking in the press again about how Bale would be a perfect fit for Madrid. Funny how there hasn't been much from anyone related to Madrid about Suarez.

He could be in danger of burning bridges at Liverpool without a bid ever materialising.

It would be quite funny if after all his talk about playing for the biggest club in the world he ended up playing in the French League. That plus we get £50M and I'd be happy.

I don't think anyone thinks he's bigger than the club. Some would say he owes us nothing. To a certain extent I agree....football wise.....but he owes us respect. There are several ways to go about getting a move. Through the press is one of the worst IMO.

I think teams will wait until nearer the end of the transfer window to go for him and start their media campaigns, in order to try and put a bit of pressure on Liverpool to sell thus driving the price down a bit as they will see an unhappy player at a club who has spent decent money in the transfer market (if the reported signings all go ahead) who will perhaps be looking to sell to balance the figures a bit.

He seems happy to involve the press when it suits him, but quick enough to blame them when the coverage isn't in his interests.

Simple solution Luis, keep you mouth shut (particularly during matches)

If Borini can stay fit next season and you lot give him a run of games, he will genuinely surprise you. He's a very good young player.
Him playing in a front 3 with Sturridge and Coutinho gives you a young, fast, exciting front line and even if you lost Suarez you'd be looking good up front.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,758 ✭✭✭Strongbow10

its pretty obvious whats happening in fairness, theres no way that Real have not reached out to him.

They are looking for him to force Liverpool's hand into letting him go on the cheap in the hope we'll be desperate to get rid of a disgruntled player for below market rate. He is probably a target for Madrid but not a priority.

We did similar ourselves with Gareth Barry a few year back, really unsettled him at Villa. He angled for a move and our bid never came. The very same could happen here.

The club absolutely must stay strong on this, if a bid of at least €50million doesn't materialise, then we need to be strong enough to insist the player stays. We should not be forced into a corner of allowing a player to leave below his market price.

And if I hear any guff about "good riddance, let him go if he doesn't respect the red shirt, if he doesn't wanna be here then we don't want him, we are Liverpool Football club" etc etc.. i'll go mad. A big club does things on their terms and will not be dictated to by one individual.

He has 4 years left on his deal. Either we get the fee we ask for or he honours his contract

Suarez ban only holds weight under the English FA's territory, was a fella on the radio talking about it. Would probably be held up but there's a case for it to be reduced due to them adding games to the ban based on the incident being on TV. Adding games to a punishment because it is protecting some sort of domestic 'brand' isnt something another FA would necessarily uphold.

He's never been reticent about talking to the South American Press or Liverpool Club media. His issues are quite obviously with European (particularly John Bull****) media. He is currently in South America with Uruguay so it's no surprise that he's talking to the press.

I believe Mkhitaryan, Coutinho and Luis Alberto will be given the task of replacing Suarez. I feel Rodgers prefers a powerful, quick forward like Sturridge up front with advanced midfielders or forwards operating behind him. Sturridge created so much space for Couthinho to operate in. I see Mkhitaryan, Luis Alberto and Coutinho all operating behind a lone striker. All interchangeable, all have goals and assists to their game.

What Liverpool may well do is add another forward in the Sturridge mould to the squad.

All hyperbole on my part of course.

He's talking to the press because it suits his agenda to talk to a favourable press. While I'm not in favour of players doing things through the media as Suarez is, he is entitled to do so.

My point is simply accept that there's a contradiction in being happy with the coverage when it suits, but kicking up a fuss when it doesn't. You can't have it both ways
