If this is in the wrong forum please move.

I have a Sony CMT HP7 the on/off button on the remote has stopped working but the rest of the remote works perfectly. I don't want to get a universal remote as it won't do the same functions on the stereo as the original. Does anyone know where I can get the remote fixed??

    yeah it's the wrong forum

    always try new batteries first

take apart remote control and clean under the pads with isopropyl alcohol & cotton bud, or surgical spirits, don't use harsh solvents like acetone

commercial places will try to sell you a new remote rather than fix it

if the remote does not work after cleaning the backs of the buttons then it means the conductive coating is worn,,this can be fixed by using wire glue available on ebay for under €10 just lightly coat the pads with glue.
this glue is used for making connections without solder and works great.
otherwise browse ebay for new remote of same model.

The silver PCB paint is very expensive and wears off. You can cut the conductive pads off a €2 calculator.

    wire glue ?

or you could go to any motor factors and get the paint to fix heated rear windows

would a 3B pencil work for testing or would it's resistance be too high ??
    see watty's post above
