Jones is looking in serious shape. Chael on the other handy looks a little flabby.

    Still though, Chael FTW!

Calling him chubby... You're so going to be thrown into jail when President Chael P. Sonnen defends his undisputed Light Heavyweight title... :p

the amazing thing is that we're even considering that Sonnen may somehow do it even though it makes literally no sense at all logically
and that is a testament to the genius of Chael P.

“Look, Jon, I don’t need to fight you. I’m the highest paid fighter in the UFC. I shatter pay-per-view and television records. I don’t need to beat you up, Jon - I just want to.”

“I'll take him off his feet when I want to take him off his feet. I got two national championships that says he won't stop me from doing that, but that's not what wins fights. Closin' up your fist and running 'em into the guy's face is what wins fights. That's what I'll be doing on Saturday night, not just taking him down ... that's easy.”

he just makes the irrational part of your brain think it might be possible.... I hope he does it ! but he won't, but he might.... ahem.. but he won't

    ...might though

I know that, but he just looked, i dunno how to describe it, he was 1lb over, and the way he just grabbed that bottle, seemed like something was up, i'm probably totally wrong though

    One fight less
Nick-catone-james-head.jpgA welterweight matchup between Nick Catone (9-4 MMA, 3-4 UFC) and James Head (9-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC) is a late scratch from tonight's UFC 159 lineup.

According to the UFC, Catone was pulled from the card "following a trip to the hospital for dehydration."

The event, which takes place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., will go on with 11 bouts.

Catone failed to make weight at Friday's official fighter weigh-ins. After tipping the scale at 173 pounds, he was fined 20 percent of his purse. Initially, the fight was scheduled to go on as planned, though officials later canceled it today.

Catone vs. Head was slated for the Facebook-streamed preliminary card. The stream, which precedes FX prelims and the pay-per-view main card, now boasts just two fights. The start time of the event has changed from 6:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. PT) to 7 p.m. ET.

Catone, who was slated to fight in his home state, was in need of a win after suffering consecutive losses to T.J. Waldburger and Chris Camozzi. The most recent defeat, which took place this past December, was the former middleweight's first appearance at 170 pounds.

Thinking of putting €100 on Jones win by KO, 6/4 on Paddy Power..thoughts?

It's your money, if ya can afford to lose it then go for it.

Before you do, just look at Silva/Sonnen 1, Sonnen destroyed him, i'd never bet money against King Chael

Whilst I'm totally with Scud on this, the MBS from PP is too good to pass up. I've taken the same bet

the prelims are actually on espn from 1am for a change

you should see all the fights apart from the three that
    are listed as 11.30
    garcia/mckenzie being one of those

    ufctv usually another options

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 595 ✭✭✭Steve O

For a start, Jones has brilliant wrestling defence and is twice as strong as Anderson. Sonnen has no chance and I love the guy as much as the next fan.

There'll only be 2 fights on Facebook now as the Catone fight is scratched.

The MBS is if the fight goes the distance, yeah? I dunno, I think that's a bit useless personally. The only way it happens is if Chael can do what he did to Anderson in the first fight and hold on this time. If Jones gets his hands on him, he'll find a way to finish him (Sonnen hasn't proved historically difficult to finish with guys who can handle his wrestling). So you're pretty much betting on a guy, who's never been taken down, getting taken down at least five times in one fight. Pretty shrewd from PP.

Agree with all that, its a bull****e special as it only applies
    to the match market

they won't lose anything on that but will attract a few
    punters with that

what might catch out some though for example
you back chael pts and jones wins on points
You do not get your money back even though it has
    gone the distance
this only applies to the match betting market which
    is 1/10 jones 6/1 sonnen

Exactly. The MBS is pretty much a dud unless you're backing Bones hard, which you shouldn't be doing at 1/12 (It's actually back to 1/10 now.... bargain :P )

I dunno if anyone is mentioning it but I reckon 8/11 on Johnny Bedford is a decent enough price. Caraway is good and all, but I think this is a Bedford win all day (Especially if Miesha tate is in Caraway's corner telling him to phone in Round 3 like she did last time :P )

Best realistic odds I could find for Jones/Sonnen is 4/1 for Jones in Round 2. I can definitely see that happening. I pretty much see this as an identical finish to Chael/Anderson 2 with Sonnen freaking out when he realises his takedowns won't land and doing something stupid, just as Jones finds his range.

    Lol

I'm thinking exact same as you but would probably do
jones in round two at 4s and jones in round 3 at 11/2 as cover

If chael can get past round one and i think he might then
I think it'll only be a matter of time before jones finishes him.

    Please prove me wrong chael

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,391 ✭✭✭Scar Tissue

    Bitta Oasis, nice.

I'd say the loser of this gets their packing orders from the UFC, fingers crossed it's Lenny

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 11,139 Mod ✭✭✭✭Mr. Manager

Garcia has to go. 5 losses out of 6 fights... Shouldn't here in the first plae IMO. As I said before, he just swings for the car park for 15 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,942 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

Jones is 2/9 to win by submission or KO on Paddy power, you get your money back if the match goes to points. So the only way you can lose is if Sonnen wins by KO or submission.

no i was onto them earlier bout this, its only money back on the outright winner of the fight..so not really any use in it unless ur stickin a few grand on jones IMO

Chael to dance about, threaten a bit, maybe fire a takedown attempt, get stuffed, lose direction, get caught in a clinch and destroyed. :(

Nice win by Sarah McMann there, the women fights have been a great addition to the UFC so far. Rousey vs Zingano and McMann(and a possible Tate rematch) will be excellent future title fights.

Wow Rogan looks so small beside that wrestling guy
