Bit of an odd request here, but does anyone know anywhere in the city centre or nearby where I could get red lightbulbs, or red fairy lights, or some sort of red lighting? For a party with a very specific theme, and for fire hazard reasons I'm reluctant to use a red cloth over a lamp or paint a lightbulb red (unless there's a specific type of paint you can get?).

    Thanks :o

I got a normal red light bulb in the hardware shop at the Connolly station end of Talbot st ( cant remember the name but you cant miss it, opposide side to supervalu ). It was for an electric fire but it was just a normal lightbulb so should work for yourself

Easier to buy a Aerosol of Red spray paint and Spray a normal bulb, enough paint for hundreds of bulbs

Would that not create fumes or anything when the bulb gets hot and the paint burns?

You obviously know SFA about Benburb Street because it is not red lightbulbs that is sold down there. Also, if you have nothing positive to post - don't bother.

@OP - Try your local hardware shop. Some of them sell coloured bulbs.

Don't know where to get coloured bulbs off hand... but don't spraypaint a lightbulb! The fumes aren't noticeable but (from experience) it tends to cause the colour to actually rise and stick to the ceiling, plus have been warned since this misguided experiment, can cause the bulbs to explode.
