Why did they move from 93.2? That seems to have been a reliable frequency to use.

    *pure guess*
Maybe Connect will come back on 93.2

93.2 suffers a lot in parts of Dublin from a strong RnaG on the same frequency - maybe that's the reason?

Same issue will occur with 88.8 - just that it will be Radio 1.

An ill advised frequency imho - there are arguably better options.

Reception wise it seems down on power with a weaker signal in Rathmines/Rathgar.

I thought RnaG was on 93.5 around Dublin. Anyway, 93.2 has been used as a frequency for pirates for much of the last 19 years. I think Connect's old friend Phever used to be on 93.2!

Yes, 92.9 (Three Rock) and 93.5 (Kippure) cover Dublin, but it can come in strong on 93.2 in parts of West Dublin sometimes.

93.2 has been used by pirates for years. It’s better than a lot of them

Got a very strong carrier at lunchtime in citywest on 88.40, no RDS, probably same op as 88.80?

The frequency of 88.4, if correct, does not sound like a good idea. I thought one of the main frequencies for RTE Radio 1 around Dublin is 88.5! Maybe Citywest is sufficiently away from that particular transmitter. I certainly don't recall ever hearing of a pirate using that frequency.

No pirate would operate on 88.4 - 88.5 is crystal clear with sidebands.

A low power car TX ? or possibly the 88.5 giving the effect of a carrier.

96.0 Kiss Country - Dublin City Centre, possibly the 60s station that was on at Christmas time
99.3 Unid - blank carrier across Dublin

88.8 playing dance music earlier around Liffey Valley. Presume this was the other station. No RDS, stereo or indents. Quite basic.

What happened to Easy on 88.8 and what do you mean by "the other station"?

Yesterday, Easy was off air (from 88.8). While I was around Liffey Valley, I could pick up the other station that uses that frequency on occasion - Dance FM 88.8. According to the Easy Radio Facebook page, the warm weather caused an issue for them yesterday.

What has happened this year? There must be well over a dozen pirates currently operating in Dublin, between daily, weekend and occasional pirates. This includes the latest entrant: 90s on 98.4! Is 98.4 a safe frequency to use, squeezed in between 98FM on 98.1 and Lyric FM on 98.7? I'm surprised it has not been sued before if it is okay.... Another very recent phenomenon: frequencies being discovered which seem to have been ruled our previously!

    has 99.3 identified itself yet?

ticking a box on a form does not make you of a religion.

Not yet, I can just about get it - Lyric from Mount Leinster on 99.2 travels out my way and that eats into it.

We also never heard that test on 91.6 again, that one was odd.

Hearing them too. Audio is very nice. Getting a weak carrier on 98.4? D6W area.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,904 ✭✭✭JDxtra
