    Re 94.3 occupancy in Dublin.

Logging shows one of the current 94.3 tx and location was previously on 87.5 upto a couple of weeks ago with consequential interference to a long-running tx on 87.6.

Perhaps this operator should monitor frequencies for occupancy to avoid problems, just a suggestion?

Dbmicrovolt - can you expand on the 'logging' ?, there has been an assumption that 87.5 and 94.3 are the same station but radiation pattern and audio quality suggest otherwise.

All the regular pirates apart from Chill are on air including Sunday specialist Retro

Today the 29th is also Chris Carys anniversary - his impact on radio in Ireland lives on.

Various receivers are monitored using I/Q data across IP links on public internet, the data is stored on the LAN for retrieval and analysis as required (or real-time for TDOA, occupancy etc).

Spectral analysis can effectively show a tx 'fingerprint', it's an area of specific interest to me (appeals to my inner 'anorak').

Alas the tx 'fingerprint' for those 2 TXS are very different - signal strength measurement with directional antenna confirm that - unless the tx has moved

Even the name of the dance station on 94.3 is not known. Normally there would be a social media page to contact, or someone in the radio community would know who was behind it.

Then there could be some friendly reminder that two stations on the same frequency doesn't work and they could come to some compromise. I agree that no pirate “owns” a frequency, but being careless and transmitting on top of or right next to another station doesn’t help anyone.

Also worth mentioning again is that the BAI do grant licences for temporary stations to use 94.3 in Dublin on occasion (Blackrock college being the most recent as far as I know).

It's beyond stupidly especially when there are alternative frequencies available.

The FM band is getting busy which is unexpected given the actions by Comreg late last year, a lot of new dance stations albeit with old names have popped up - Club/Pulse/Pure ,compared to recent times when oldies stations was the norm.

Well as dance stations go and wile we are on the Subject in the last post I am a fan of them but this is my opinion starting with pure on 93.2 I have to say Pure Sh1t very bad signal I can only get it near dundrum anyway good. Seems to me it's very low power I just cant get around why a Operator would turn on when they are not Prepared no rds anytime I check very bad audio also.
Music is all over the place.

Pulse on 91.0 also very low audio seeming to be staying on air longer in the day from last week or that it was on coming on at 5 or 6 in the evening. Like I always Wondered why some Operations think not to come on till evening if they want you they will knock on your door if on air 3 hours a day of 24 hours a day .
Also music all over the shop kind of FK music to stuff you would hear on a Legal station.

Then to club the best by a long shot but I will say there Signal can be patchy in some spots but there imaging and audio is 2nd to none they play softer during the day and more kind of classics in the evenings seems to me there is a lot of work and effort been put in and though I would like to here live djs on club it's the best for dance on the band at Present in my opinion it's good to see the club name back on the radio in dublin also as a lister and fan of dance music on radio I think its Miles ahead of the rest.

The station on 99.5 no Comment I cant say anything more then has been said for the last few years ..

I have not even bothered tuning in to 94.3 just yet i must but by the posts I have read on here the last few days I dont have too....... over and out

Having analysed the FM band in Dublin yesterday, I think it’s a shame that’s very few stations are on high power of these days. Also, no underground dance station on FM at the moment, closest thing to 1 would probably be The Beach. The one underneath All 80s could be one as well, but All 80s overpowers it and it’s impossible to hear

I’d imagine there’s less high powered stations on at the moment because of two recent raids (Phever & Freedab).

Plenty of stations on today - Here’s a scan from Howth Head

    87.6 Chill FM
    88.1 Pirate FM
    91.0 Pulse
    92.0 Retro FM
    93.2 Nothing (BBC)
    94.3 All 80s
    98.4 90s Network
    99.3 Energy AM
    99.5 Fresh FM (Blank carrier)
    102.5 RetroNow
    104.2 Storm NE
    105.2 Easy
    105.7 The Beach
    107.1 Club FM

    104.2 Storm NE
    105.2 Easy
    105.7 The Beach
    107.1 Club FM

Out of that list, Pirate Fm is driving out some power or has a great site. I can get it driving through drogheda. And Drogheda has a dip round it. Very few pirates can be received in Drogheda.

Don't forget Energy Power AM on 1395 kh Medium Wave - 99.3 is a relay. Also on yesterday, but not today, apparently, : Pure FM on 93.2 FM.

What is going in this year with all the increased activity on the airwaves? I'm surprised somebody has not used 91.6. Maybe the unidentified on 94.3 could go there!

i think energy 103.0 is low power and only broadcasts intermittently, but i cannot confirm that for definite.

Retro FM is a weekend station. The unidentified dance station was on playing music this evening on 94.3 at 7pm. I picked it up near Mount Merrion. Incidentally, Easy Radio was also on at 105.2 FM.

I’ve just edited that list, I did get Easy just forgot to include it on the list, I was getting a strong blank carrier on 94.3 the Unid dance station wasn’t making it to me up the mountains

    3. Registered Users Posts: 29,073 ✭✭✭✭end of the road

the blank carrier is probably all 80s.
i can't confirm that of course but it seems the most likely candidate as it has been using that frequency for a bit now.

Was that on a car or house radio, I notice all the stations coming from South West Dublin hills struggle in the city centre, Plus many not receivable in the likes of Dun Laoghaire & Bray.

Anybody get a chance to do a bandscan please? I'm out of Dublin for 2 more weeks.

Here are the ones I picked up on the M50, N2 and around Ballinteer as well:
      FM:
88.1 - Pirate FM - all the way to Drogheda!

      93.2 - Pure FM

      94.3 - All 80s.
I also picked up some station without RDS playing oldies on the outskirts of Drogheda. I think it might be a different station as it disappeared going back towards Dublin. Coming from some other part of Louth perhaps?

99.5 - Fresh FM - RDS said TESTING.

105.2 - Easy Radio -also all the way to Drogheda!

      107.1 - Club FM

      AM/MW:
      1395kh - Energy Power AM

Retro FM was not on 92.0 during the day. I did not pick up Pulse on 91.0.

    12. Registered Users Posts: 4,654 ✭✭✭Infoanon

A few to add to the list:

      87.6 Chill FM
      91.0 Pulse
      98.4 the 90s Network
      102.5 Retro Now
      195.7 The Beach

City Centre - Chill and Retro Now weak
