Other than the poor toilet facilities (i'm unsteady enough sober in those trailer toilets!) and the price of a pint I very much like the RDS.

I like the old Anglesea stand and if they do refurbish the place I very much hope that they can keep a part of that stand or at least it's shape to preserve the memory of the place.

The toilet facilities aren't the worst I've come across. A full length terrace and roll back the price of the pint to what it was 12 months ago and it'll be job done IMO. A full length terrace will increase the capacity enough.

I like it too. As far as I know it's listed as well, so knocking it is a non-runner thankfully.

    It's not.

I have absolutely no idea why this notion is so embedded.

    Must be the asbestos roofs...

I think it's because the main arena part of the RDS is a listed/protected building?

Having said that, I hope if they do get the rights for redevelopment they keep some of the existing 'feel' to the new Anglesea stand, i.e the drawings that were leaked earlier in the year had a great old school look to them, redbrick and pointed walls etc.

that's good to know. I know I'm a little by myself on this but I hate that stand and would happily see it demolished and replaced with a modern stand, hospitality etc etc

I hate it myself. Absolutely freezing during the winter cause you're essentially sitting on concrete, and those stupid "false" stairwells are a disaster waiting to happen if, God forbid, there was ever a serious incident there.

    The Angelsea needs to go.

But it would be quite nice if a creative architect could come up with something based on the same feel. Just without the stupid pillars and fully modernised.

Maintaining some sort of period facade would be a lot more costly.

I reckon if it's replaced it'll be with a typical modern indentikit cantilever stand with a terrace in front.

Can't see why it can't be both, like in the purposed plans:

The above looks beautiful, and it would apparently bring the RDS to a 23,000 capacity. Throw in some terracing and that figure could easily be 25,000 which would be perfect.

Remember Leinster had that "ask the CEO" a while back. Were the questions and answers ever published ? I'd be surprised if he wasn't going to be answering detailed questions on the future plans for the RDS in it.

That planned RDS is almost Wimbledon esque. It is gorgeous.

Now your talking. That looks brilliant. Something along those lines with a capacity around the 25,000 would be perfect.

Needs a terrace! Then it would be perfect.

It's been awhile but I still think a 25K stadium is too big for Leinster.
