The Hawks have been the better side tonight, but with the way this game has gone, I wouldn't be surprised to see it won in the first couple minutes of OT.

    Hopefully by the Bruins.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.

My insides hurt after that game. I would have felt better this morning had I gone on the beer like every other respectable Blackhawks fan.

Well you pulled out the win, and as much as I hate to say it, it was deserved. Back to Chicago now for a best of 3.

I don't know how much more my nerves can take.

That is awesome news. I've been streaming the games up until now since they are blocked on Gamecentre, so be nice to watch it on the TV for once.

You could always connect your computer to your TV. If you don't have the cable, you can get it for less than 10 euro anyway and watch it on your big screen.

That is if your computer can do that. you would need a really good quality stream to do that

Any computer for the last few years can do it. Also, as long as it works fine on the computer, it will be exactly the same on the TV.

It's a projector and screen. The screen is 10ft diagonally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Fiery mutant

I have my PC plugged into TV, so stream to that. But in order for the stream to be fluid, gotta keep the image smaller cos if I expand to fill the stream, it jumps. Anyway, if ESPN got the rights again, I'd pay for it. It's just setanta's coverage aggravates me.

Nice setup Joe, moving into my new place at the end of July, it would be an idea to see if I can setup projector in the office.

Cheers, I've only really got the screen and projector hooked up at the moment, looking to add a nice couch and have four signed NHL jerseys to be framed for the walls.

I'd love if ESPN got it, but from what I remember the Setanta deal was for 3 years or more. Happy enough with Gamecenter at the moment though, good quality images on a good connection with a strong PC.

One win away, can't believe it. Thought the Hawks played a real solid game but worried about Towes for tomorrow even though reports say he's ok. Would be nice to win it in Chicago but don't think my nerves can take a game 7.

Didn't see Toews on the ice at all last night in the final period. He took some serious hits in the second. I think he will be ok for tomorrow night, all the same. None of them were head shots.

So two top centres could be missing in the next game Bergeron and Toews.
Anyone heard anything on Bergeron last I heard he was taken to hospital during the third period.

Initials rumours are a spleen injury. I first heard that it had ruptured, but he flew back to Boston this morning (so it obviously didn't rupture).

Toews looked like he kept asking to get in from the few looks I saw of the bench. Fingers crossed for Monday night.

Reports are that Towes should be good to go tomorrow but they aren't going to say anything different. League looked at the hit and decided it was ok but I think it was borderline head shot by Boychuk. Bergeron is day to day according to Julian. He's going to be a massive loss for Boston if he doesn't play.

This is the one that benched him. It wasn't looking/sounding too good this morning, but they're confident now that he'll play tomorrow night.

HAWKS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT TOEWS; BRUINS' BERGERON DAY-TO-DAY

CHICAGO -- Patrice Bergeron may or may not be available for the Boston Bruins in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup final, but Claude Julien is keeping that a secret. Jonathan Toews' status for the Chicago Blackhawks might be a little clearer.

Julien called Bergeron day-to-day with a "body" injury and added that his status was "really good news." Julien was short on details other than that. He said he did not know if Bergeron would skate Monday.

Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said Toews was feeling much better after leaving Game 5 on Saturday night with an upper-body injury. Quenneville said the team was "optimistic" the 25-year-old captain would be able to play Monday night.

We will see what happens as game time approaches. Neither team skated yesterday, so we will keep an eye on the morning skate.

Toews skated this morning. Bergeron did not. Both are expected to play this evening.

    http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=426182

BOSTON -- With the Stanley Cup on the line, Chicago captain Jonathan Toews got the green light to play in Game 6 while Boston coach Claude Julien said he was optimistic that centre Patrice Bergeron would also see action Monday night.

Both players, integral to their teams, did not finish Game 5 Saturday due to undisclosed injuries.

Bergeron was taken to hospital during Saturday's game for evaluation. Toews, who sustained several big hits earlier, finished the game on the bench.

"I feel great," Toews said taking part in the morning skate Monday. "That was just, I think, the coaches being cautious. ... We've gotten to the point where I feel ready to go again, and I'll be ready to play tonight."

Boston coach Claude Julien was optimistic about Bergeron, who was not on the ice for the Bruins morning skate and did not meet the media.

Counting down the hours now until game 6. My nerves are shot and the game hasn't even started. So much tonight is gonna depend on how the Bruins adapt. A couple of games ago, the Hawks needed to change, and they were able to do it. Now the Bruins need a change.

Can they do it??? I hope so.

I still want to know wtf was wrong with Bergeron?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,553 ✭✭✭Fiery mutant

Me too. If the rumours are true and it was something to do with his spleen, and he is not 100%, then I hope they don't play him. I know we would miss him hugely, but the potential for serious injury with that is so serious, I would rather be knocked out than risk him injury.

Crazy last 90 seconds, unbelievable stuff.
    Congrats to Chicago

What a disaster...that finish reminded me of the Man Utd Bayern Munich CL final finish, only my team was on the right side of the finish.

  • Registered Users Posts: 65 ✭✭alanmcl12

So Bergeron played that last game with a broken rib, torn cartilage and a separated shoulder.
That is unreal and he still played pretty well throwing hits and taking faceoffs

Wait until the final lists of injuries. It will be long and plentiful for both sides.

The Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup after setting the record for points to start a season, first team to clinch a playoff spot/first team to clinch their division, first team to clinch the conference and then the Presidents Trophy. They went end to end as the best team in the NHL.

They are also the first team to win multiple Stanley Cup Championships in the post-2004 lockout/salary cap era.

    We have all witnessed greatness.

No, there wouldn't. It just wasn't meant to be this year. The guy's gave it everything last night, just wasn't enough. Some of the players will walk away from this season feeling worse, knowing that they hadn't performed for large parts or the important parts of the season, but considering how we finished the regular season, there wasn't much optimism for us doing much in the play offs.

But once we came back against Toronto, the team gelled and blew away the Rangers and the Penguins, and they can be proud of that, but the turning point in this series was losing game 4 at home. You can only come from behind so often before it stops working.

But it was a great series, and all congrats the the Hawks. If you are gonna lose the final, better to lose to the team that was the best all year, from start to finish, no shame in that.

    Heartbroken today.

Had to burst my bubble, did you? :D

Either way they played well and it's not like the same team can win the cup every year. Although I was hoping Bruins would win.

That's incredible. The loss is easier to take knowing the team gave it their all against a good team and in my opinion that series could have gone either way. A lot of positives to be taken out of this playoff run.

Injuries played a big part for both teams. It was a great Finals, a few bounces either way and this series could have been over earlier or gone to a Game Seven.

After the Blackhawks scored the game tying goal with their net empty, I said to my friend, 'if the Bruins are going to play for OT, they are going to lose', and that's just what they did. That Bickell goal really took the wind out of the building. The Bolland goal was icing on the cake.

Congratulations to the Boston Bruins and their fans. It was a hell of a post season run.
