Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Forget the player transfer season the management merry-go-round is where the real intrigue is.

I think we can say today is the start of the madness with Wenger to PSG floated and Pellegrini to City as representatives of the Malaga manager speak to Cities head of football Txiki Begiristain.

Others in play this summer must include Rafa Benitez and er Harry Redknapp (despite his protestations).

Mourinho is also in play, if Mancini is booted out for Pellegrini where would he end up?

Bump! things just got more interesting! Depending on who gets the Utd job there could be some knock on effects across Europe.

Ancelotti to Real Madrid seems almost certain.
    Mancini to Monaco possibly.

if Moyes does go , that i would like,
Personally, I dont think Moyes is ready for United, he has never had a budget to buy players, possibly see him go to Newcastle , if he leaves.

    The possibilities seem to be:

Moyes to Utd (now confirmed by the Beeb/Guardian)
Mourinho to Chelsea (think this is going to happen)
Ancelotti to Madrid (I'm 50/50 on this but Real will want a big name)
Pellegrini to City (if Mancini goes he would be the favourite)
Mancini to a French team (Monaco or PSG would surely be linked if City decided they needed a new man)
Martinez to Everton (Makes sense to me)
Rafa to Newcastle/Madrid (would Madrid want him? he a big club manager but in England Newcastle would be his best bet)
Wenger to PSG (think Wenger will stay at Arsenal at least 1 more year imo)
    Low to Arsenal (see above)

could be interesting to see what player moves happen as a direct result of this too

    Baines & Fellaini to Utd?
    Rooney away from Utd?
    Alonso to Chelsea?
    McCarthy to Everton?

will newcastle get rid of pardew? that 8 year contract and all...

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,866 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

its a 1 year rolling contract for 8 years (last bit is meaningless really but if you leave out the first bit its good in a show of support/PR way)

If they sack him I'm sure they only have to pay a years compensation too, while on the front it shows massive support, an 8 year deal behind it all is some clever and shrewd business.

    Moyes to Man Utd
    Martinez to Everton
    Di Matteo to Wigan

Lee Clark to Newcastle IMHO, fits in with club recruitment policy and is less likely to have issues with aforementioned recruitment policy and will sign a performance based contract

Ancelotti is more or less done.

Benitez apparently had lunch with Napoli's president today.

I certainly can't remember a summer with this many managerial changes at the very top level.

Benitez would be excellent for Napoli. Still think they'll choose an Italian Manager though. Montella was in the news in Italy recently stating it would be a 'dream' to manage Napoli. They are in the ECL, Fiorentina are not. Young manager, plays attractive football.

    He'd be great for Napoli.

Real Sociedad coach Philippe Montanier has told Sociedad he doesn't want to extend his contract beyond the end of this season. Tad surprising this but I suppose he may view things as only getting worse from here on in as a fair few of the club's players will be in high demand this coming summer. Leave on a high and all that.

Be interesting to see where he ends up.

He's going to Rennes. Apparently they have a billionaire owner who also happens to be married to Salma Hayek.

Saw a pretty funny tweet earlier quoting (falsely) Montanier as saying 'Je ne regrette Rennes' (one for the French speakers)

Pellegrini confirmed to be leaving Malaga and Martinez considering his position. Might have two of the open jobs in the premier league filled pretty soon.

This move also opens up the way for Martinez to join Stoke! ;)

Edit - Mark Hughes seems to be set for the Britannia. Lucky them.

Another on the move, not high profile but could pop up closer to home.
LISBON, May 29 (Reuters) - Braga parted company with coach Jose Peseiro on Wednesday after only one season despite the club winning the League Cup, which was their first trophy in almost 50 years.

"Peseiro was part of another page of Braga's successes over the last few years," the Portuguese Primera Liga club statement said, adding the decision was by mutual agreement.

The northern club, which has been challenging the dominance of Porto, Benfica and Sporting, finished fourth in the league this season, just failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Braga came bottom of their group in this season's Champions League with only one win at Galatasaray. Peseiro's League Cup triumph, a shock 1-0 win over eventual league champions Porto, was the club's first trophy since 1966.

Cappello rejects move by PSG. Hard to see why they are having such a hard time filling this position. Mancini will end up there at this rate.

He got sacked because he got them from League 1 to the Championship almost got them promoted so the club then got scared at the thought of success with him and booted him out and because they think Ancellotti is holding out for their phone call........altho in reality i think he said something after the play off game that upset the owners.
