Pretty much every where other than Downtown Eastside!

Nicest places to live are places like Kitsilano, UBC, Yaletown and Coal Harbour but they are the most expensive as well. North Van is nice too and a little cheaper.

Pretty much every where is very friendly and safe so that's not going to be a problem. You should be more concerned with trying to find somewhere close to good transit if you have no car or close to things you enjoy such as the beach or large parks etc.

Even the war zone that is the downtown east side isnt dangerous. Unless you're career choice is prostitution.

Kits my fav, no skytrains. Nice vibe around East Van but no beach nearby but it does have skytrains.

The square between Main and Cambie from 14th up to 30th. Loads of new bars and restaurants working their way up Main.
