Hey there, the best place to head for drinks in Singapore is the Boat/Clark Quay area. This is where most of the nightlife is and where everyone comes together on the weekends. If you want to have a great view of the city try get to One Altitude Bar which is in Raffles Place. They have a rooftop bar on the 63rd floor that looks over the whole city. Happy hour pints are $10 before 8.30 too. While you are in Singapore and if its all guys you should head over to the Orchard towers too. It is a right of passage to see it if your in Singapore.

+1 for Clarke/ Boat Quay for late night drinks.
Other places you could try are Chijmes which has bars and restaurants in a courtyard type setting:

The bar on top of Swissotel the Stamford which is the tallest hotel in Singapore- great views looking over city and Clarke Quay.

Raffles Hotel- the Long Bar for the famous Singapore Sling- it was invented there.

Those three places are all beside each other.

You might also like to try the bar Ku de ta ontop of Marina Bay Sands- I was only there during the day, think there's a cover charge at weekends, but worth a visit at some stage.

Kuta is a siht hole, but it's we're everybody stays its full of bars restaurants and clubs(on the Main Street) there's two lanes called poppies lanes 1&2 where there's loads of cheap bars and restaurants and where everybody goes before clubbing. If you want to go up market head for seminyak it's the upmarket area of kuta.kuta is full of Aussies!!!
Head to ubud for a few days its a lovely area. Also have a look at going to the gili islands for a few days its lovely there also.
Don't bring to much toiletries there's a Carrefour just outside kuta and you can stock up there.
Also DO NOT change money with the street side money exchangers YOU WILL BE RIPPED OFF ... I know from experience!!!

Alcohol is very expensive in Singapore but when I was there we found beers in Hooters to be cheap enough (by Singapore standards!). The heat and humidity in Singapore is ever present so be prepared for that and it will effect your reaction to the beers too! Other than that it is okay for a stop-over enroute but I'd choose Bangkok as the stopover next time and Singapore is a massive shopping city so would be good for that too.

Also if you are a substance abuser you can look forward to the death penalty for the importation of narcotic drugs. Singapore is also spotlessly clean so don't litter there.
