I always thought Rhianna was a nice name, the singer ruined it a bit though! I know 2 teenagers with that name, bit different to call them that now though IMO.
The 'Sh' sounding names must have been very popular 17-18 years ago in an area where I was teaching: we had a Sabina, a Sheniqua, a Shanice, a Savannah, a Shania, a Charlene, and 2 Sharons all in the same school year, the kids used to joke all they were short was a Shakira!
I wouldn't be a fan of the baby names that are 'fashionable' at a particular time for that reason

What should also banned are parents who give first names to their children that are almost identical to their surnames, eg Patrick Fitzpatrick or Conor O'Conor. Do parents get confused when filling in the registration form?

choose a regular name, you ONLY get regular spelling.

No Junathon, Jaq, Kathryn or any of the other "but it looks nice" crap.

What the feck is wrong with Kathryn?

My name Catherine but no one ever pronounced the three Syllables. Just two . Cath rin. Possibly because we are all knackers and can't speak properly . I'm not sure. Anyway I had to call my daughter after my aunt who passed when she was born and her name was Catherine . I went for Kathryn so that people not pouncing the three syllables and only saying the two wouldn't bother me so much. It still really fecking annoys me with my own name. It's Cath er ine. How hard is that ye shower of blood related b@stards ?

Also I hate the name Tadhgh and would never stop punching someone with that name if I met them.

That's mad...Sinead also makes me think of snotty noses.... and Naoise does a bit too. Coincidentally when we were kids, my sister was telling me the story of Deirdre of the Sorrows with the character of Naoise (who was a man)...she was pronouncing it 'Noses':D.

I know a woman called her child Turloch..I too hate that name. She had a terrible lisp and couldn't say her 'r's either so imagine how that sounded.(She had a Padraig too:().

I recall reading about grandparents, who's surname was Leg, in america successfully forcing parents to change their childs name on the grounds of it being abuse, the childs name, Peg!
