Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I for one am enjoying the Isolating podcast. I suspect I'm not the only one.

Same, fairly harmless stuff. Don't go out of my way to listen to it mind.
Seems like a sound enough fella, some witty stuff, some daft stuff but an interesting life and family background. I also enjoy some of the reflections on the island and island life/characters

I'm absolutely loving the Isolating podcast, it's been one of the pleasant positives of the current situation. I use them as a nice gentle way to unwind before sleep, and invariably find myself giggling occasionally!

Granted, I was a big fan of DOD before but it's a real treat to get 5 eps a week!

Sure it's a little more formulaic than when it began but I find a comfort in all the segments and Mark's little additions!

There's occasionally been hares in my vicinity since the pod began and yes I now hear the sound effects in my head :pac:

Missed this last week. Jesus, the most McTepid take I've ever heard.

The DOD podcasts are great. I wonder if they wish they stayed in Dublin? Some downbeat days which is understandable, I think everyone would be the same if they had to do a daily podcast. Adds to the realness of the situation. And the bit about his aunt d

Love the Say My Name slot. I probably wouldn't be a fan of the jazz bits with his dad. I actually feel bad for not liking it because it's seems like a nice bonding time with him and his dad who is very talented. But I end up skipping it. It's definitely not "scripted" but he prepares for it like anyone would.

The only thing that annoys me about DOD podcasts is when he starts explaining Irish things, like yesterday explaining who Michael D Higgins is or a few weeks ago explaining what the leaving cert is, like I get there's people outside Ireland listening to the podcast but those people are surely Irish, why else would they be listening to an Irish sports podcast

In fairness I assume SC have a decent handle on the listener base and i'd imagine there is a significant number of UK subscribers judging by the pods popularity on iTunes charts etc. so I would think thats why he does it. Having said that the normal SC pods don't ever explain irish references really so its a bit odd that the does. I know two people I work with subscribed just for the DOD pods so maybe many of the recent subscribers are not irish? Don't know to be honest.

DOD would have a far bigger international following than the SC crew in fairness..he's been doing the comedy circuit internationally a fair while at this stage.

True, sounds like he tours Australia a bit, didnt think there would be many subscribing to second captains just to hear him but maybe there is

His live shows are excellent. Though in the last one in the Sugar Club he got snappy with a couple of doormen which blew the facade a bit.

I find him irritating, so I just don't listen to them. I'd prefer if one of his spots was taken by the lads once a week watching a classic match and discussing what was going on in the world/sporting world at the time of it.

Oluwashina was good talking about Nigeria, they did quite well despite it sounding like a complete circus, he didn't like Ken comparing Nigeria to Ireland one bit :D

I like the new audio bed of ken's pre workout diet but feel like the missed out on including the lashing of insulin to wash it down comment.

Similar to the audio bed of Ken's seat travails on the train, I never understood why they ended it like that because Rafa Honigstein DID see him :)

Romantica was better. But they changed the recipe a few years ago, now viennetta wins.

Can you still get the biscuit Vienetta? That used to be the only one could hold a candle to the Romantica.

They explained recently that the line broke up a bit when Ken was mentioning Rafa at the end of the story. So Mark decided to leave that part off the audio bed.

Speaking of Rafa; I assume he has an exclusivity clause written into his contract with the Athletic? I can't recall hearing him on any podcast since he moved to the Athletic.

They have had Felix Tamsut on doing Bundesliga so no Rafa recently alright.

Meanwhile, jaysus Vienetta is bleedin delish. Way, way nicer than I expected.

They didn't have Romantica in Lidl. Which, I think, tells it's own story.

He obviously does. The lads could/would be putting out more relevant content if they didn't have him farting out his 'whimsy' every day to beef up their offering. They used to do 2 shows on a Monday and a Thursday for instance. Now it's one, with DOD thrown in. Not much use for people who don't like him.

There’s no sport. I’d say that has a bigger bearing than anything. They’re scraping the barrel a lot of days on their own show anyway.

You really expect them to do two podcasts on a Monday with no sport taking place?

Like most businesses, they're adapting. There's not enough sport to generate the same level of output. On Mondays, they could cover a weekend's worth of football matches and all peripheral stories arising from those matches from the PL and several other major European leagues.

The DODpod has no impact on the main SC pods. Honestly, what relevant content could they be putting out in place of the DOD 20/30 minute pod? What would you like in place of that?

It was 2 Monday, 2 Thursday when they were at the Irish Times. On Patreon it's been 2 Monday and 1 Tue-Fri. They have dropped it to 1 on a Monday. It's dropped by 1 a week and they still output more content then during the IT days.

It has less to do with DoD and more to do with this worldwide pandemic meaning there is little to no relevant live sport on.

I can't remember him being on SC for German football coverage in a long time. They've covered it a bit during the lockdown and he hasn't been a contributor.

More content does not mean more quality. Try tuning into OTB AM any morning around 8am and listen to them try and fill time.

If it’s anything like my local Spar that means it’s probably €4 in a proper shop.
