Hey! Im building a new PC for myself for editing videos, some 3d graphics and effects stuff. Maybe a little gaming as well :P

I've picked out the following parts and was just wondering will everything work okay? The motherboard is one of the things im concerned about.

    RAM - 8GB-Kit Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 MHz CL9
    CPU - Intel Core i7-3770K Box, LGA1155
    Motherboard - ASRock Z77 Pro3, Sockel 1155, ATX
    Power - Super-Flower Amazon 80Plus 650W
Case - FRACTAL DESIGN Define R4 Black Pearl
    SSD - SanDisk SSD 64GB 6,4cm S-ATA 600
    Graphics - EVGA GeForce GTX 660 SC, 2048MB DDR5, PCI-Express
    Hard drive - Seagate 1TB 3.5" SATA-600 7200rpm 64MB

I dont plan on overclocking the cpu, so cooling isn't a big issue. The fans should do.

Also, for making music in software like FL Studio, is a specific sound card required or will the standard do?

    Thanks a mil!

Yes everything will work just fine but if you will not be overclocking then you can get the exact same performance and save some money

And 650 watt is complete overkill

If there is a chance you might want to overclock in the future keep the parts you have selected and buy a new cooler later. You can still drop the power supply to 550 watt

Maybe get a bigger SSD with the money saved?

If you are planning on using the PC for DAWs also (FL Studio is one of them), I would highly recommend any sound card that you can get that has ASIO 2 support. Basically that's a whole different chipset that bypasses windows' audio driver and provides very low latency which is highly needed in music making in daws.

I would recommend anything from the USB external audio cards from M-Audio and a good pair of headphones from Sennheiser or AKG to start off.

Other than that, good luck with the rocket, it should take you to the sky with games! :)

Thanks a lot! Yeah i run the asio driver with an external sound card on my laptop at the moment. So there is no need for an internal one then? :)

If you have an external card with asio support you're grand. No need for PCI card since those might also lack phantom power in case you need a mic. I personally own an Audiophile 192 from M-audio, internal pci card but with no phantom. I kinda regret that setback but it was a good deal so seeing as ASIO is having a run for its money the card is grand!

Asio4All isn't really an option, btw... Propper ASIO support is the way to go, especially with your new PC's specs.

Great thanks for the advice :) Yeah i'd like to keep the option to overclock in the future open. But i might drop down in power a bit then. Save me a bit of money. Thanks again
